Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

For those really keen on a trade I suggest you have a look at brayshaw and Petracca, seriously good young mids, the player we trade for would have to be a very good player

From what I've read, Mitchell leaving Sydney would be like Viney leaving Melbourne.

Although not getting a game right at the minute, Mitchell is a swan through and through and is vey much in the future plans for Sydney.

Cant see him leaving.

I'd be [censored] off if I were Mitchell - no names like Rampe and Lloyd getting a game ahead of him.

Harsh but they do play different roles.

Like Toumpas getting [censored] off by Byrnes getting picked or maybe Terlich, Ro Bail.

Mitchell is a jet. Would walk into our team.

Someone sniggered at his 19 disposals a game. Considering he played sub, half forward with stints in the middle, 19 is a great return.

Unf, Swans would not give up Tom Mitchell. F/S, Highly regarded.

I don't think a top 3 pick would be enough.

When he grows 10cm and play as a third tall defender he could be upset about Rampe and when he gets his speed up he could be upset about Lloyd.

Actually he could probably still be a touch annoyed about Lloyd but TM has has injuries it's not like he's been smooth sailing all year.

Josh Kennedy was a father son and reasonably highly rated but nothing like the wraps that were on Mitchell. I can't actually remember a player with wraps as high as Mitchell leaving a club due to not getting a game. Maybe Brad Ebert going from West Coast to Port. But then he had played some poor games for West Coast that year and was returning home.

It would be a pleasant shock if we got Mitchell.

Roos is apparently on a mission to build a tall big bodied midfield ah la Freo. Mitchell is another shorty. Mind you Sydney have a lot of shorties in their midfield and they seem to do all right.

Mitchell has played some sensational games early but has also tappered off quite a lot later last season and hasn't done much this season. Has had a lot of injuries already.

Given what I've heard about the ready to go bigger bodies of Brayshaw and Petracca, I'm not sure we would give up our top pick but if we had a compo pick for Frawley we might give it up as well as getting one of those two bigger bodies.

Longmire stated specifically he didn't play last round because he's been injured the past two weeks. I'd be very surprised if he isn't playing in the team by the end of the season. If he isn't because he can't crack the team then he would definitely fit the Roos category of player who can't get a game at another Club because there are too many similar players.

Subject to medical and behaviour diligence checks Mitchell would be a more than usefull addition to the midfield. The rationale would be a same as recruiting Tyson for immediate improvement - a couple of pre seasons under the belt and a stronger body than a kid straight from the TAC - unless by luck the kid's another Wines!! Depends on the price the Swans would ask for him. The Swans also pick up a young gun mid this coming draft from their Academy - expected to use their first round pick. Evidently if the kid (Heeney) was on the free market he would go very early. So the Swans mid depth only gets stronger - another reason Eddy is having a big cry over in magpie land.

The Swans have to weigh it up - do you pull the trigger at seasons end or wait another year and risk further loss of trade value if he still cannot crack it for a game.

What would we pay - pick 4,5 or 6 is way to steep and if we handed it over we would want a fair bit of change back. The Swans 2nd rounder would not be enough. So another player from the Swans thrown in?? It would be hard to get a deal done.

If we expect to get Brayshaw or Petracca at our pick and we think they will have an immediate impact then that pick would be hard to part with.

So Why isnt Toumpas getting a run?Pretty ordinary at Casey yesterday

Sadly from what I have been reading over the last month or two it sounds as if Casey is pretty toxic and not a good place to develop our players.

Also sadly I don't see any alternative at this time.

So not through the draft then? I thought we needed forwards?, and key defenders? and running halfbacks, still reckon the 72 on the list is the way to go

I think mids are first cab off the rank, Saty. Roos has flagged this in the press too. I'd be going with running half backs as my second preference. We have pretty good depth in KPP stocks.

What if assuming we finish 16th and Chip leaves and we have picks 3 & 4 and say Saints and Lions are below us who need talls. Would you take 2 young mids like Brayshaw and Petracca or try for a Salem/Tyson deal with the extra pick.

I could see the Swans being prepared to swap Mitchell and say Jones for pick 4.They have a great midfield, another youngster in Heaney coming and then say pick 4. They would win not lose.

Redleg if you can get that deal done where we end up with Zac Jones, Tom Mitchell and Petracca or Brayshaw, I'll be forever indebted to you and would absolutley jump at that deal

Mitchell and Viney played junior school footy together before Mitchell headed west - and Viney south west. Word around the place at the time was that Mitchell was just as good if not better than Viney at that age...................... which says something!!

Todd Viney would have his ear to the ground if there was any chance of prising Mitchell out of Sydney

All players on the fringe of a premiership contender should be looked at. Tom Mitchell has some talent, and would be a handy addition. Sydney rate him, so he won't come cheap. Depends on what our list management identify as a need. If a Mitchell type is on their list I imagine they would try and work something out.

  • 2 weeks later...

Would you trade Viney for pick 24? Because that's how highly he's rated up there.

Just keeping this one alive.

Still not in favor at Sydney.???

pick 24 trade to swans and a 3 year contract offer from MFC.

Tom Mitchell can seriously play. In our best 22.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
