Stef Martin is the biggest spud of all time.

I'm so glad he's gone.

What about Juice? Kicked a lazy 6 for the Redlegs in the SANFL today. Edited by mrtwister

And took MOTY and concussed Dangerfield.

More than Martin ever did...but I'm not going over old ground.

Just playing.

Essendon is currently making Melbourne's defence look like the greatest of all time. Up 42 points to 9 with 5 minutes left in the 1st.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing as I was watching, just makes our win even better.

I don't care how many uncontested possessions Cotchin can get. He cannot get a contested one and cannot get his own ball ever. Not a captain, but a good downhill skiier

I did a 'player comparison' through footywire. Cotchin compared to Nathan Jones (seems like a good benchmark). Cotchin is just two contested possessions less per game this season.

Interesting, looking at the comparison, Jones beats Cotchin on total disposals, too. And disposal efficiency. And clearances. And inside 50s. And goalkicking accuracy. And even running bounces. They are about even on everything else except rebound 50s and kick-to-handball ratio.

I'm really pleased to have such a complete set of numbers all say that Jones is better than Cotchin.

Especially since Cotchin is not soft, he just looks soft because of his hair and face. Like the Swallow brothers.

Brisbane actually went a half of football without scoring off their own boot. Their only point was a rushed behind.

Terrifying.

Also, while I'd never wish injury or suspension upon any player, and least of all such entertaining and club-loyal players as Griffen, Cooney and Giansiracusa...

I'm really, really glad they'll be out for our game against the Doggies. The attacking flair they had last time was, in the end, decisive.

Really want to beat North, climb another couple of spots on the ladder, and start making people sit up and take real notice.

Not saying I want him back but he did have a good patch in the ruck for us when others were injured. Bit harsh putting him down as the biggest spud ever ahead of Lucas Cook, Gillies, Gysberts etc.

That last half of the Suns, made Geelong look really slow.

Is their ageing list catching up with them?

Worst game from Bartel ever.

Steven J. is a frustrated old man at the moment.

Is he going through a phase of just doing obvious off the ball acts.

Or is he just fed up with the team playing average?

The trampling on Abletts hand was no accident, I wouldn't be surprised if this gets cited by the MRP

Many, many retired AFL players often reflect and malign how quickly the end comes for them.

Geelong have been at the top of their game for 10 years now and surely their ageing stars are starting to wane?

GCS look quite scary....

I agree. Martin was on the up when we got rid of him. He'd been excellent.

speaking of former players did you see in the herald sun today Moloney could be looking for another club as he has been overlooked for senior selection since r5. He has fully recovered from his back injury but hasnt been picked Justin is playing the younger kids. It mentions a falling out with the coach. So maybe Neeld wasnt all the problem.

Can you honestly blame him? It would've taken a lot for someone who's red and blue through and through to leave the club that he grew up loving...

I'm not going to dwell on Moloney, or Martin or even Sylvia, etc.

At the time when this club was screaming out for leadership, these players were found wanting.

Moved on and now floundering.

Agreed, we are better off without them nowadays. But I still don't blame them for leaving for why they individually did, barring Martin seeing as he got traded.

As I said earlier, when Geelong's stars can't do the job, the kids are found wanting. We've all sung Scott's praises for his list development since taking over, but he had the easiest list to start coaching with and hasn't been challenged at all. Now he's seeing the stars start to age, slow down and reduce in ability, and his kids are being shown to be just OK, not the amazing future A-grade players some thought they were destined to be.

Meanwhile, if Essendon ends this round in the 8 (let's hope they do!), they will surely be the worst ever side to be in the top 8 this late into the year?

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
