Apparently asking 800k.

If we lose Frawley could we throw a big contract at him?

Posted

Source? Source? Source?

I would pay a mil for the kid if necessary. He is a rare breed. One of my favourite players to watch.

Who and or what would you trade for him? remember he is not a free agent.

Price aside, it'd be what we're willing to trade for him...

What would Freo want from us?

Posted

Let's not beat around the bush, Freo would want Hogan, maybe more

Posted

I would suggest two first round picks could get it done...

Hypothetically:

We finish the year with pick 4.

Frawley goes so we get pick 5.

We then try to trade pick 4 for a player and a mid first round pick. (12)

On-trade that pick and and pick 5 for Fyfe.

Melbourne gets:

Fyfe and a (decent) player

Melbourne loses Picks 4 and 5.

Fremantle gains:

Pick 5 and 13.

Fremantle loses: Fyfe

(I'd suggest they'd be after pick 4 and 5 though.)

Hogan would be the starting point.

They'd also want out first selection in the draft and possibly even McDonald.

Don't over do it there. It would depend on how desperately he wanted to leave Freo and then which club would make a good offer to both him and the club.

GIve em pick 4 and a pie and coke.

We aren't giving away Hogan, they can forget that.

And as great as Nat Fyfe is, I wouldn't give away picks 4 and 5.

I think Fyfe might be a legitimate target though, I don't think he'll stay at Freo - I wouldn't.

They will absolutely ask for Hogan but if it gets that far then the horse has bolted and they will settle for the best deal we are willing to do, which will still be bloody good by the way...

rpfc want Fyfe!

Or Dangerfield!

Please, jebus!

If he wants to leave they won't hold him back, they'd take our first pick... i hope

Posted

Fyfe would cost our first rounder and maybe a latter swap of picks. No more. Players invariably get to their desired destination these days. Look at Kurt Tippet, Luke Ball, Taylor Adams and Josh Caddy as examples.

First round - throw in Strauss, Blease and the steak knives

Give em nothing and he will nominate in the draft to come to us.

Remember L Ball??

Although Lyon and Roos are good mates so don't think it would happen.

Posted

Why would a WA native want to move east

Who says that is what he is asking?

And as if Freo wouldn't pay it (whatever figure it turns out to be)

Agree.

If you could get him you'd kick Frawley and offer the first round pick plus 1 mil per season for him on a 5 or 6 year deal. GWS might offer more (first round pick plus a valuable player) if they knew he was leaving but if he had no interest in them you'd probably find a way to get him to us.

But the question has to be asked if he gets 800k at Freo (and he'd have to be some chance to) how much more will it take for him to come to us and I think the answer would be bucketloads. The same length of contract if not longer plus at least 25% more money.

I think Freo will entice him with length of deal, probably at least 4 or 5 years. They could go up to a 7 or 8 year deal if they have to. Think about it. The salary cap will only rise and probably steeply with the next broadcast rights. Pav probably only has 1-2 years left, same with McPharlin and Sandilands. Mundy will get a new deal but likely only for 2-3 years as he's 28 and once it's over so might Freo's window.

Freo will likely go all in on a flag now with big money to Pav, McPharlin, Mundy and Sandilands but the length of Fyfe's contract should be so that he's underpaid early then gets his money in 3-4 years. It's how Sydney structured Tippett and Franklin's deals.

I really can't see Fyfe willing to come to us when he has no reason to leave Perth and no reason to pick us even if he did. So it's all a pipe dream. We can bid but I think Freo have the ability to offer him a reasonable deal.

If Fyfe and Mundy both push hard for contracts then Freo might have someone squeezed out like Mumford and Everett from Sydney. Who have they got who's on big money but they don't really want anymore is the question.

Barry as well?

Our first pick and a deal that sees Frawley go as a trade?

Would they consider that you reckon?

Frawley can go wherever he wants for nothing. Difficult to trade that.

this kid is an incredible footballer

I would pay overs

We havent had a superstar since Robbie FLower

Fyfe is worth our first pick and if frawley leaves the next pick aswell,

Won't leave WA def worth asking though

Pick 4 and 5 would be great deal for us can't see it happening

Would rather that that hogan + pick 4

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
