Hey, we're not poking holes... simply enhancing it :-)

Essendon players finally have been issued show cause notices from ASADA.. Surely this has to help our cause on Sunday, would have to be distracting for the players.

Or it could totally galvanise them for a week or 2 until they fall off the rails like they did last year.

I really hope Jordie has learned a few things at Casey, mostly adding an attacking mindset to his game

Cant see how playing both Cross and McKenzie is a good thing when there's no Jobe Watson to tag

But in Roos we trust

Have they forfeited yet ?

Really should win this game. They are ripe for the picking.

McKenzie, Riley and Kent are all good ins. Will be a team that is more than capable of getting the job done.

This game is really winnable, they rely on fast movement and we can definitely stop that. They are not as good as Collingwood at breaking lines so we should be okay stopping their line breaking.

I am thinking key matchups also.

Cross-Zaharakis.. Zaka is in a rich vein of form and Crossy would do a fantastic job of limiting his input.

Vince- Heppell.. He is capable of playing head-to-head with Heppell and i have full faith he'll hurt him offensively.

Jones-Hocking.. it's probably inevitable :(

Hopefully Tyson gets to run loose abit, he could be a real game changer in this match.

I am pumped about this one, no Jobe, full of distractions.. Let's get up and kill them defensively. Play "boring", i dont care. It's not boring for me anyway. Got you might demons

Have been confident for a month this game was ripe for the picking. Essendon might have wins on the board but none lately have been convincing. Their last four wins are Bulldogs (8pts) Brisbane (8pts), Richmond (50pts) and GWS (15pts). Their last four losses are Sydney (50pts), Collingwood (23pts), St Kilda (!!! 16pts) and Fremantle (53pts). So that makes them flat track bullies at best. Basically, they haven't beaten anyone good.

So just because they have many more wins on the board doesn't say a thing about the form they're in. Take out their best player (Jobe), negate the impact of their remaining leaders (Cross and McKenzie to tag), and crush their offensive game plan with our stranglehold defence. Force them to play that aimless backwards kicking rubbish they revert to every time they panic in matches, and they won't have a leader to drag them over the line. Daniher is only a kid, and Chappy has disappeared since round 3, so Dunn/TMac will take care of those two and make scoring a real challenge.

The ASADA cloud is just icing on the cake, not to mention they've been our bogey side over the years. They'll be mentally exhausted and hopefully won't be sleeping much over the next few days.

The only thing working against us is the 6 day break, but Roos is trying to counter this with 3 freshly rested ins.

if we lose to them in light of half their list receiving show cause notices it will be terrible

I think the bombers will come out firing, but I also think we will suffocate them and they will eventually break as the week weighs on them I think we will win and roosy will know the bombers will come out hard but we will be ready

Is this their final lineup, then?

No. You can fit Chapman and Goddard in there somewhere.

Can't put them in because there is no one to drop.

Yes. My concern is that this may galvanize them, for a week or so, before it burdens them. Had the notices been shown a couple of weeks back it would have been more of an advantage to us.

me think those bummer lads might be awfully distracted now !!!

I watch alot of Essendon games due to my wife being a supporter. Take out the fact that Watson is out and the impact of the notices, their form has been poor for 2 months. These are the games we need to start winning without excuse.

If it galvanises them in the same manner that the death of Tom Hafey galvanised Richmond, i will take it!

I hope McKenzie has learned from Cross - Cross has been nicely shutting down his opponents and whilst doing that has averaged 22 disposals and 6 tackles and 95 points on supercoach.

As said previously, the problem with McKenzie has been that he is so intent on defense without any offense that his opponent has never had to worry about him. Cross's opponents have to try and break his tag but also worry that he doesn't get too much of the ball himself.

You have no idea how they will react.

We hope for them to be thoroughly distracted but it could have the exact opposite effect of bringing them together - the "world against us" mindset.

Yep...Matthew Lloyd said something along the same lines this morning on 3AW.....

I hope they implode today!!

Bombers arent that flash distractions or not and they are without their best player, no excuse not to win

I think it is important we either sidethe first 2-3 or frustrate them with defence from the outset.

If they have any chance it will be to hit early, so they'll throw it all at that.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
