WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - ANGUS BRAYSHAW

Carey and Matthews are the best I've seen. Senior was a more spectacular and powerful player than Junior.

I also reckon Judd's best is better than Junior's best. Others won't agree - eye of the beholder, etc.

I do agree that Junior has probably been the most consistent and prolific player the game has seen.

Judds best I think is more damaging than Abletts.

To many of Gary's are one twos with teammates.

Well Ablett has kicked 140 more goals and had 230 more scoring shots over their careers, and played 9 less games than Judd.

Thats what puts him above Judd for mine.. you cant ignore that sort of scoreboard impact.

Noted that Malthouse on SEN picked out Brayshaw as something special in amongst the usual talk by the other commentators of how good the Dogs, St Kilda, the Tigers are going to be in the next three years. Mick picked out MFC as a team to look out for largely based on Brayshaw, Hogan etc.

Fair call. Hogan and Brayshaw are both top 5 of the first year players.

I think MFC and the Dogs will be the 2 younger sides to eventually separate themselves from the others.

I wouldn't classify Richmond as a young side, but I think we are a long way ahead of Carlton, and will be a long way ahead of St Kilda in the next 3 years.

Brisbane have problems with their spine, and a lack of key position talent coming through, and Gold Coast have stagnated.

So I think we are well placed as a top 4 side down the track, probably 2017-18 onwards.

You mean the Rivers who has played in the last two final series whilst he wouldn't have at Melbourne and will probably retire at seasons end ?

I believe that Rivers is the perfect example of why free agency was brought in . A good servant who played 10 seasons for us and left to gain some success at the end of his career.

I hold no grudge for him leaving

Interestingly he sat behind me during the queens bday match. Either he still has a soft spot for the dees or he came to support Daniher. I respect him for coming

I did give it to him a bit the other day. We were in the front row and he got within metres of us a couple of times. Couldn't help myself. But good on him for going to the QB game.

GWS will be the ones to beat if they can keep Shiel, Cameron and Treloar together.

I agree, they'll have a chance of stringing 3-4 flags together at some point - providing they keep their list together.

Fair headstart the amount of first round picks on their list. They basically get a free hit at a few flags. The AFL has made sure of that.

Also played the first years of his career as a small forward, Judd didn't, always was in the midfield.

As a Captain/Leader: Judd = 9/10, Ablett = 6/10. Judd sets example. Ablett selfish, sets his own rules.

For Inspiration: Judd = 9/10, Ablett = 6/10. Judd leads/develops his players. Ablett relies on them for possessions/goals/ego, hasn't developed them.

For Courage: Judd = 9/10, Ablett = 4/10. Judd: "was often ill at having to play sore". Ablett refuses to play with sore shoulder (while his team is wallowing at the bottom of the ladder).

Brownlow = 2 each

They breakeven as players but for the above Judd is by far the better footballer and value to his club, IMO.

Why on earth am I posting this in a Gus thread. I don't know!

Can only justify it by saying if Gus is to be a champ I'd rather he be like Judd rather than Ablett.

14th in the AFL for goal assists despite being affected by the sub vest 3 times.

Not bad for a first-year player that didn't play any NAB Challenge.

Yeah, thinking about keeping him as a starter in supercoach.

Have had him since round 1. Kid is a star, and a rising star - shoe in.

Great fan of AB.

But talk about goal assists.

My whipping boy JW.

How many goal assists did he gave against Cats.???

A lot. Ian changing my mind. Development is working. Can we get A 24yo to get a rising star.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
