We are being crucified

I've followed footy and the Dees for 50 odd years. Supporters always reckon your side is getting a shitty deal from the umpires. However, we are getting a shitty deal. Why? Because umpires do not want to upset the stronger teams. This has always been the case. The Eddies of the footy world wield enormous influence which filters through all aspects of the game.

agree totally, there is always the victim 'woe is me' bias to watch out for, but tonight was deadset joke.. even the commentary team, who are anti-melbourne and pro-company-line-of-the-afl were bemused

Hey...I agree we got a raw deal

BUT DOESN'T THAT MAKE THE VICTORY ALL THE SWEETER?????

Played against 29 opponents, played away, challenged at the business end....AND WON!!!!!!!!!

yes it makes it sweeter but if Sloane's kick had gone 50 mm left we would all be screaming bloody murder at a loss

we should make a formal complaint, it carries a lot more weight to do it when you actually won the match

I was at the game, it's crazy but I was surrounded by crows supporters and they complained the whole game that the umpires robbed them! Guess that's Adelaide for you!

Must've been awesome to attend a win in Adelaide. Hopefully Perth soon!

I honestly didnt think it was too bad.

I knew that the crowd would sway the umpires decisons. It always does, especially in Adelaide.

That first game at Adelaide oval against Port was far worse. By a long way. Umpire Schmidt actually hugged Chad Cornes.

The stats show that the Perth and Adelaide teams get a free kick bonanza against interstate teams. It's an embarrassment to the AFL, particularly in light of the umps not being 'full-time' professionals like the players. I don't think today's were any worse than usual, it's just that a win was at stake, which is recently oh so rare. So just the usual 3-4 goal a game SA and WA umpire bias factor today, making the victory that much more special.

And the worst decision?........Bail's 'non-mark' I'd say.

If you don't , you get nowhere. The top teams do all the time when they get a bad one. They use the usual, we would just like to see where things are at.

The club needs to employ someone, possibly an ex-umpire to go through each game and put a tape together of all the [censored] calls, send it to the AFL and ask for explanations. Every game we are getting caned by umpires, so the pressure needs to be put back on them.

The other thing I'd do is instruct each player, that if you're holding the ball when an umpire wants it for a bounce or throw, put it on the ground, make them pick it up. Even tell them until they show us some respect they don't get any either. Is there any free kick rule against that?

Why are we complaining? WE WON!

because we were a kick away from losing it and it would have been completely due to a horrible performance from the maggots

next time we go over there we might lose by 3 points instead of win and lets see how flippant you are then

i agree, it is there for all to see, here is an incorrect application of the rules, it nearly cost us a game, it is totally unfair, what are you, as an organization going to do to prevent it from happening again? why in the namge of god would we nt do such a sensible course of action in response to this recurring injustice

btw it is not like the crows come to the MCG to play us and the same thing happens, it is a one way street and it has been happening forever and i am sick to effing death of it

The thing that gets my goat is the way the umpires no longer seem to penalise incorrect disposal. The number of times a player is tackled, and the ball just spills loose, with no penalty applied, is ridiculous! What happened to the "must dispose of by handball or kick" rule...???

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
