I'd be keen to get Jake Best from the scorpions into the club with a late or rookie pick.

He always seems to be one of the scorpions better performers and knows how to kick a goal.

I was hoping we picked him up last year.

I think we need to aim a bit higher than that.

I remember thinking O'Keefe was the best player in the competition. Guys I seriously reckon he can do a Boomer Harvey. I've heard he lives an extremely healthy lifestyle and is determined to keep playing AFL. Maybe we could get 3 good years off him despite him turning 34 next year.

We should get a couple good years, O'Keefe isn't even nearly done.

He'll help our kids. Hopefully we land him, does the 1% plays.

God help us...

Stay away from Wellingham IMO, bad news and when I seen him playing in the WAFL really poor attitude and work ethic.

Agree and I couldn't see us letting Kent go. He is a young, hard goer, with some pace and a strong left foot kick. I also think Fitzy will be given another year.

Have heard from a really good source that Geelong will offer Melbourne Taylor Hunt in a straight swap for Blease.

Taylor Hunt is a run with player and we would still have Cross next season as well, so McKenzie's final year should be paid out. It's not like we could be anywhere near 100% of the salary cap given half the list are not up to it.

I for one rate Taylor Hunt, both as a stopper and as an in and under player.

Plus he is also a rich man's McKenzie - gets more of the ball, better disposal, has a greater influence on the game (either that or McKenzie is a poor man's Hunt).

I really liked the look of Hunt when he first arrived on the scene but he has stagnated for some reason. Still, as an upgrade on McKenzie he'd be worth a punt.

Wouldn't be too keen to go anywhere near Taylor Hunt.

He's an athlete, not a footballer.

He's got at least half our list covered for ability and toughness.

I love that the same posters that complain about our list of battlers that can't kick, then would like to pick up Taylor Hunt.

Change for the sake of change.

Delist 12 and two years later they are bemoaning the 'clogger' we got with Pick 85.

changing doesnt always guarantee a difference..... but keep the same all but does. Some improve yes, many just wither and play magoos

I don't particularly want Hunt, merely pointing out he's better than a large chunk of our current squad.

That is true. Hunt would have most our list covered.

But I wouldn't pay overs for the bloke all the same.

Blease for Hunt (as someone mentioned before) could be worth looking at.

I think Blease getting dropped this late in the season all but confirms he's going to be given the boot at years end.

May as well get some trade value out of him

Let's keep doing what we've been doing then hey, rpfc?

Turn 5 or 6 over and keep giving blokes like bail a game?

Simpkin, laidler, Anthony miles, Eli templeton etc could all have been taken over the past couple of years as delisted free agents or with this "pick 105" theory you keep flogging. All better options than the Evans' and McKenzie's who've clogged our list for years.

They must turn over 25 spuds over the next 2 years. You don't win 40 games in 8 years and make the same number of changes as the top sides.

I really think how midfield will be much better next year. Trengove will be much improved after his foot being fixed - probably has been handicapping him for ages. Also Salem and Toumpas will be fitter and stronger. Harmes has impressed and there are raps on Hunt.

We already have the basis of a good on-ball brigade.

Our problem has not been quantity of changes, but quality. Picking the right players.

Using pick 85 isn't the bloody point - getting the first 5 or 6 picks right is!

That's how you build a list.

tend to agree.

I think its why Roos and Co like to deal with players and not picks. Happy if they can work the same magic at Melbourne as that more northern clime

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
