Roos could make a statement with some changes next week, but that wasn't a loss of the magnitude against West Coast. We're hanging in there and being competitive, but we're a long way from dominating any teams. It's frustrating that we've lost 3 very winnable games now though, especially looking at the month of misery we're in for.

It's going to be a hard slog, and we'll be stuck with VFL level talent until we can turnover the list in October. Keep Salem at Casey for a while longer, Roos will want to see who stands up against the elite teams we're facing in the next month.

Agreed - we've blown 3 chances to get valuable confidence-boosting wins on the board.

We don't have St Kilda, Carlton or Gold Coast again this year. We do, however, still have to play Geelong, Hawthorn, Fremantle, Sydney, Essendon, Collingwood, Port Adelaide (twice), North Melbourne (twice), West Coast in Perth, and Adelaide in Adelaide.

Bulldogs (twice), GWS at home, Richmond and Brisbane are probably all we have left, to be perfectly fair (though at our best who knows against Sydney this week). It really hurts to think that, with a bit of luck and a couple of crucial moments going our way, we could be 2-3, even 3-2 right now, with a lot more confidence at our backs.

Don't want to be negative nelly but the proliferation of VFL teams (new Rich, WB and stand alone equivalents) has almost certainly weakened the comp. It should theoretically make the gap even bigger between AFL and VFL.

That said Salem playing well is great to here. Bit sick of hearing about Kelly, Aish, Bontempelli, Billings etc.

Is the Toumpas playing?

He was definitely playing and got a lot of the ball early but didn't hear him getting many mentions after half time. He could have been injured.

I wasn't at the game but got the scores and some descriptions from Casey Radio.

Garland also did well in what was a scrappy game. I would think it would be sufficient for him to pull up well to get a game at Melbourne next week.

Roos is well known for allowing players to develop at 2nds level to what he requires of them before allowing them to play 1's. In saying that we have weaker list than the Swans lists he had so we might see Salem sooner, but let him have some time to develop before putting him on a pedestal.

No way, I thought JKH showed quite a bit today. Has goal sense, which we crucially lack from smalls.

Not sure we want to push Salem in straight away, but if we do, Jetta goes.

Mate, have a look at the time things are posted before jumping the gun.

Was written before half time where JKH had done sweet F-all. Salem was killing it, would have been a worthy swap at that stage.

JKH was good in the second half, will be better after a few pre-seasons.

I didn't think JKH looked lost at any stage today. I at least saw him getting involved, unlike 3 or 4 others.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
