Who rucks if Spencer doesn't? Fitzy? Gawn is injured, King is a rookie, Jamar hasn't had a pre season and playing first VFL possibly this weekend.

Don't try logic with that guy. Its not worth your sanity.

How spencil gets a game after having his opponent get 60 Hitouts is totally mystifying!!!

Get Pedo and or Georgio in Ruck as it will be wet and bring in another in and under! Jetta desperately unlucky not to get a gig, should have replaced Bail.

You must be on better [censored] than Biffen Picket!!

Those Carlton omissions are a massive eye opener.

Surely we are a chance. SURELY.

Short memories, remember last week or the week before?

Waite is pretty much their Dawes. He just straightens them up structurally. It's a massive call to drop him. Very fishy. And Gartlett - dropping your best small forward for a very likely rainy game - it doesn't make much sense to me. Tanking this early also doesn't make much sense, but who knows?

jeez... I hope their tanking, because I need to see a win....

if its wet i hope they play wet weather footy and not that ring around the rosey shyte like last week

first to the ball and move it forward as quick as possible

as long as players down the ground know that's the plan they can structure accordingly

Call me as mad as Queenie in Blackadder, Simple as Lord Percy, Brainless as Baldrick, but I'm going to put $ 20.00 on the Dees to win at " Edmund Blackadder Odds"!

Anyone else game for the upset of the round possibility?

Murphy is the only top-class mid on the ground, if Jordie can do a job on him then that can bring their midfield down to our level.

Nothing would give me more pleasure in the world right now than for us to notch up our first win against the blues. It's unfortunate that I go into every game of ours now with very little hope of winning, but suppose the dream is still alive in my brain.

Dawes straight back in is a big call from Roos, my thoughts are if Fitzy was doing some kind of a job he would've held off but Fitzy's game is looking totally bereft of confidence so sending him to Casey will hopefully give him a chance to clunk some marks and kick some goals.

I agree with some of the sentiments on here about Pedo, he looks better down back than forward. Although Dunn has been doing a good job down back he would be a better option forward IMO. Also interesting to see Roos persist with Chip forward, perhaps having Dawes will help him to lead to the right places.

JKH has to play the entire game, he almost changed the game last week and looks like he's starting to settle into the speed of the game. Plan to sub him out and I'd have Evans as the sub.

I really hate Carlton, it sickens me that we were dragged through the tanking mud but they somehow avoided it despite them being the first to blatantly do it. They are No. 1 on my hate list.

Play like Demons this week, give them bruises they'll be nursing for weeks!

Yeah,i've got $10 on us 1-24 points @ $7.65

Bit of fun and they are vulnerable and under pressure.

I saw those odds - surely if you think Melbourne are going to win, you'd also realise that we're absolutely 0% chance of winning by more than 24 points (or 39, for which the odds are even longer). Good bet from you.

We are in this game up to our eye balls. At least if the players want it bad enough. The new recruits will want a win, Roosy included. My concerns as usual are what we are going to get from Frawley, Grimes and Watts. Would like to see Nicholson included, I like his pace and disposal and believe he should get more of a go. Lets take em on!

You like Nicholson's disposal? You really are a sucker for punishment!

Wet weather footy, hard physical stuff, it really is a day for Watts to hang out on a wing and watch the minutes go past. I hope we see something different from him.

I've got Watts in my SC team, I was a hair's breath away from trading him but decided not to at the last minute. Good thing too as I had LeCras so needed to get rid of him, still don't make me regret it Jack!

1. Yes, Spencer was beaten but Mumford is in amazing form at the moment and at his best is one of the best few rucks in the comp

2. Don't be too carried away by the 60 hitouts. When you have as many stoppages as that game did, someone has to get the resultant tap

3. As others have pointed out, our ruck cupboard is bare. We need Spencer on Saturday. Personally I hope someone takes to his jocks with pepper spray & the big unit goes postal on Warnock who I feel is suspect when it really gets physical.

Some people need to remember that Jetta is a rookie this year. We can't play him no matter how well he's doing in the reserves.

I am a little surprised that Fitz was dropped. It may be better for him to go back to Casey and play an easier game, but we could use him playing as the second ruck. Leaving Spencer to go against Warnock all game is a big call and it still leaves us a little short in the forward line. I'd much rather have Fitz forward/2nd ruck and use Frawley as the second or third tall defender to run off and create up the ground. Still, we'll have to see what happens on the day I guess.

I'm inclined to agree, RM, but the one thing that makes me think differently is that it will rain. It'll be a day for the little blokes. I think we can get away with less KPPs. The ball will fall to the deck the majority of the time and we'll have to be clean for once.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
