No change is a slight surprise but not really a concern, we of all people know how effective "deckchair re-shuffling" can be.

A win's highly unlikely if not impossible, but the doomsayers saying 100+ is on the cards need a bit of faith. If we make the most of our chances we can keep it to a respectable margin. The Roos game-plan doesn't normally bleed goals.

Wow didn't see that coming. Would've flagged at least a couple of changes.

Those who rubbished any chance of Fitz and McDonald playing didn't either. Let's hope they get through.

FITZ Clearly concussed subbed out. should be a mandatory 1 week period no questions no discussion ( I hope they know what they are doing) will be largely ineffective.

Mc DONALD will really be surprised if he plays and if he does it is a disgrace clearly cannot run.

WATTS the most likely to play although I wouldn't be surprised if he is a lat minute withdrawal

As for no change ??? Watch this space, A few need to be reminded that failure is not an option at this level!

As consequence the microscope is right on

Byrnes, Pederson, Toumpas, Howe, Frawley, Trengove !

I have a bad feeling about "No Change"

And would you have a good feeling by a wave of changes instead? I wouldn't be surprised by some last minute changes either, but the club has more confidence than you. If McDonald 'clearly cannot run' I'm surprised that no one noticed at the club. Maybe you know we are trying to trick WCE?

When I heard there was "no change" I nearly drove off the road. (I have a sneaky suspicion that there might be a late one but who knows)

As some have pointed out Roos does know his stuff a little better than us on Demonland.

I am putting all my faith in Roos and the decisions he makes.

I wouldn't have said that in the past.

It's really not unfair. It's lifting expectations. Roos would absolutely know that he provides very little onfield but obviously the situation is difficult. Neeld picked him up for his potential to 'change' some of the training habits and culture at the MFC. To bring in some players who were brought up in 'elite' environments.

I understand where our list is. You do too. That's why it confuses me to hear you say he was useful.

Any small forward at AFL level should snag a couple of goals. That's a bare minimum. It's what Byrnes doesn't provide that resonates with so many supporters including myself.

He lacks vision and awareness, his disposal can be iffy. His forward pressure and tackling is non-existent, he has little urgency. He is selfish.

He wouldn't be getting a game with any top 8 side. He will play until our list develops further. Next year he is out.

And that's the sad predicament of where our list is still at.

All I want is someone to take his spot, right now all I see is a bunch a blokes with their hand out looking for yet another game gifted to them.

Culture is hard to define but giving guys games over others when they aren't pushing the proverbial door down is a cause (or symptom, probably both) of bad culture and it is a lesson I have learned watching the Dees over the last few years and in my own team as we have gone through our own little renew and rebuild.

Byrnes' game wasn't great, but my opinion that he was 'useful' isn't a stretch at all.

List decisions come later in the season than Rd 2...

Because you would know wouldn't you. "Failure is not an option"... Listen to yourself mate, time to grow up and take your prejudice elsewhere. For some reason, you seem to hold something against certain players, and from what we all see, for no logical reason other than trying to create a storm.

Basically we are stuffed without our 3 talks, Fitzpatrick is a kid trying to match it with the big boys and can someone tell me how Pedo missed that goal at Etihad last week in the last term, terrible stuff!!

is it sad that i've kinda lost interest until we have someone above 6'0 to kick to?

I feel like we are a bit of a lambs to the slaughter situation.

i get the whole education and development thing, sure. But man i wanna win a game.

And to be perfectly honest, we won't until we have something that doesn't resemble a midget forward line.

I see where this is going Song

You don't give a TOSS about midgets!

I think if we get 6 goals from the forward line and 8 goals from the mids. It won't be a bad result. We

Won't win, but the scoreline will be respectable. I can't see us doing any better than that at the moment.

14 goals would be a massive result. I'd be pretty happy with 12.

My advice in this game is use Howe up the ground as well as Fitzy/Pedo plus Watts for short periods when he's not in the midfield and focus on attacking the game and getting the ball as quickly as we can to half forward. If we then stall and go sideways or bomb it in to no one then so be it. But my aim for the day is quick ball movement to half forward and maybe if we do that we might find some open little guys in the forward 50.

Using the width of the MCG would be my game plan to try and break the Eagles press. Lots of wide switches then kicks back in to the corridor.

Exciting times for Vince, Michie, Cross, Tyson, JKH and Georgiou to wear the red and blue for the first time at the G.

Hnmm I have meditated and have an answer.

You see its all about looking at this logically and with foresight!

Using my superior powers and knowledge of Philosophy, Pyschophysiology, Sociobiology, Sophology, my Phys- Ed Degree, and my experience in and around sporting circles leads me to this point!

I may or may not be prejudiced, but in my estimation several players need to step "up to the plate" I have named them. Lets see what they offer us tomorrow eh?

Also I of the sincere belief that if this side goes in as "Unchanged" then we will be carrying injured players. History is littered with this practice which I think is not worth the risk. I myself have gone into finals with heavy question marks over injured players and it has rarely paid off! In Footy and Cricket!

On your last point "Failure is not an option" In some cases this might be right, and given where some players are at, maybe time to apply a bit of pressure!

I like what Paul Roos is doing and like his coaching style. Whether I agree or disagree on selection is up to me! I,like you have an opinion, I reckon this week we have erred not bringing a few in and possibly on playing injured players lets see how it all unfolds after Sunday Eh

Signed FENCEOLOGY!

I think we all agree if we are going to have any chance of winning or being competitive we need the midfield to play out of their skin and most importantly be able to 'lower their eyes' as they say and find targets up forward. We can't keep bombing it into a small forward line - the forward line needs to work together to create space for leads. Fitzy should be able to make strong leads from the goal square and use his pace to get a couple metres on his man. Hope Byrnes is a late omission because we could use the pace of Kent and or Blease. You would think Blease could do the same and use his speed to make leads in the forward line. I think the forward line will come down to whether or nor they work together to make space and the delivery - that's where Watts and Jones come in. Pedo, Fitzy, Trengove and Howe need to play out of their skins.

I doubt whether the "no change" declaration will hold until game time, but it is refreshing to see that when Roos says he believes in the players, he is not just talking. He means it, and he is going to build this trust right through the playing group. Apart from goal kicking, the coaching group believe the players played according to training/game standards so are placing the trust in them again.

I don't reckon T Mac will play. He got 2 knocks on that corked thigh, really hard to play 8 days after that.

Regarding Fitz - there is no way legally they will play him if he has been genuinely concussed. My opinion is that the impact on the ground shook him up, maybe triggered something in his CFS, and they are being cautious with him.

Disappointed that one of Blease, Evans or Kent isn't in the team for pace, but let's wait until game time.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
