Don't we have to ask permission from the AFL, for guys who haven't managed a decent run in the pre season, maybe that is why they sat Hunt and Jetta out from Alice Springs, assume we should see Salem as well

Something like that. Might actually have to ask the VFL not AFL. Seems a bit unfair when Richmond had a practice match of their VFL team.

Also I'd like to congratulate the club/AFL/Casey Fields for the game being free entry according to the club website. And so it should be.

Last time myself and lovely lady went to Casey, nearly drowned in mini cyclone, think the game was against Bulldogs, too busy looking for lifejacket to remember

Been mulling for 3 days, involves 2k walk, hour on train, then bus and another 2k walk or taxi, and some complain about parking

Now with the non available player issues it seems to perversely make it more interesting against a nearly full strength Hawks side

Don't own a car, live in the Inner City, don't like the look of the driving skills on Melbourne roads, will probably take the train, back on topic, looking forward to how we set up forward now

No Hogan is a disappointment

But really not a lot has changed from last year personnel wise.

But I am hoping we get it in there a lot more and have a plan to use it better when we do.

Seeing how we cope with our current lack of key personnel may tell us more than if we had a full strength team.

I look forward to seeing if we stand up under match conditions as a guide to depth and ability to stick to a game plan.

A bit of optimism OD, a lot has changed, we have a few who have managed a full pre season, and even I admit a lot better coaching throught that period, and 4 important things have changed Vince, Cross, Tyson and Michie

Really looking forward to seeing our midfield again, Vince, Jones, Trengove, Toumpas, VIney, Tyson, Michie, these blokes could play together for a long time

You were talking about the forward line Saty. That is what I was commenting on.

Look at this weekends forward line.

Almost the same as most of 2014 is it not

im going and rapt its free. Went last year against the saints in the pre season game. It took forever to get out of the carpark.

But looking forward to see how our new midfield goes against the hawks one and looking forward to JKH playing again.

please no more injuries.

Where do I stand to meet you people tomorrow?

Why on Earth would you want to meet the lunatics that frequent this site? You'd be better off trying to steal drugs and guns from a Mongols or Bandildos safe house.

That would be a safe occupation at mid afternoon tomorrow because most of them are going to be at Casey Fields watching the footy with us!

I would be leaving Howe out for the Hawks pre-season match as he has become a really critical player now for round 1. Would consider giving Fitzy a spell as well or perhaps just a half and subbed to give him some match practice.

But Howe's played plenty of match time so I see no need to risk him when our forward stocks are a bit thin.

Territory you will recognise quite easily, it is the group wearing hairshirts, hangdog expressions and a permanent rain cloud above... last year would have been easier, there were custom "I hate Schwab" t shirts on display....if you want to say hello.....small,l trendily dressed, slightly ageing gentleman with a real cool Beatles haircut and beard....trying to not let my urge to talk to the players whilst they are on the field take over.....

Really torn about tomorrow. Important to get confidence into the team by being competitive against the Premiers, but we can't risk any injuries now or it really throws us into dangerous territory. Howe's body seems to be amazingly resilient given some of the ridiculous hangers he's taken over the years. Great kick too so I'd guess we'll see him forward for the first half of the season at least.

And to think there was a chorus of people saying they wouldn't mind if we used him as trade bait because he's a one trick pony! Now here we are a few weeks from round one, and he's our most crucial player.

For us who aren't there is there going to be someone who will post the scores on DL?

I'm sure the iPhones will be out there in force.

In fact, here's our first exclusive report on the game -

On the eve of its practice match against reigning premier Hawthorn at Casey Fields, Melbourne withdrew young key forward Jesse Hogan from the squad it named on Thursday morning. WJ NEWS SERVICE

Did they give a reason for this?

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
