I think is so ironic that many get told to "move on" on this forum so often and yet we have a nothing article about Tom with a separate thread.

Frankly my care factor about Tom is low. I'm interested to see how he goes, I don't blame him for taking $1 a year for 6 years (or whatever) and I think his form probably highlights what a smart decision his was.

As far as I can see it was a wonderful "win win" for both parties and I'm really looking forward to seeing what Jesse can do.

I think it is reasonable that forum members follow his progress (or lack thereof) and post about him from time to time - for the simple reason he was a high-profile Demons player. The fact that he left as he did just adds to the interest.

Interesting that statistically his best year in terms of disposals was his first, and while there is not dramatic variation, his worst is his fourth (last) season.

There's no sign of growing into that role where he takes a game by the scruff. Quite the reverse.

Tom Scully is a 'basically adequate' player, it seems. The kind who plays 200 games.

But if we still had him, we'd be ranking him below Watts and Trengove.

Tom Scully notches up the highest ratio of 'clangers' to disposals in the whole AFL. And I've not seen him be especially dangerous or daring in any way that would excuse that figure.

As has been pointed out elsewhere, if Scully was playing for Hawthorn or Sydney, he would commit far fewer clangers because of the quality of player around him.

At GWS he also racks up the highest ratio of 'clangers' per $s in a pay packet but the lowest ratio of 'clangers' per kilogram of the combined weight of his parents. I got those from Sam the Stats Man who knows everything there is to know about stastistics facts and figures.

You criticise there being specific threads about $cully, but surely it is better for you that way. If $cully discussions took place under 'general discussion' threads as you suggest, you might accidentally read them, whereas they are easy to ignore in a specific thread.

But as you say, each to his/her own.

If we start becoming a successful team again I expect the interest in $cully will diminish. Feeling relieved about the outcome of losing him is one of the few things to keep some of us happy over the last couple of years.

Agree 100%. It wasnt what Scully did it was the way he did it that raised my hackles. He behaved with little or know integrity and you can blame agenst and parents but at the end of the day it is the mark of the man and he lost me. GWS are welcome to the self centred little %$%$#654. He is overpaid and is not the sort of person to build a team around. he would better off playing tennis or other non team sports.

The reality is we got very lucky with Tom Scully.

I understand that virtually every club (perhaps excluding Richmond and Sydney) had him at number one. That we picked him at number one was not negligent - not even remotely, unlike certain other of our selections in recent times.

To date, he's not lived up to expectations. Yet, we got fantastic compensation for him. We literally got out of gaol on this one.

That said, GWS reckon he's set for a very big 2014.
