I don't see us playing Jolly and Jamar together unless Clarks foot is no good, Clark is a high quality ruckman as well as forward so the only way the Jolly thing could work is if he comes on board as a playing coach to help the culture shift, again he'll cost nothing, provide some on and off field experience and all of that,

i would have been looking to trade Jamar anyway personally.

I thought we needed midfielders, midfielders and more midfielders.

Maybe I was wrong!

Well a ruckman starts in the middle of the field, so we could run an argument that he is a mid-fielder..... ;)

Correct, and we have been playing one midfielder down for the last few years. It's why I would prefer to see Clark in the ruck, but whoever it is they need to make a contribution and not just in ruck contests.

How about doing what the Pies did with Hudson and putting Jolly on the Rookie list, then we will find out if he really wants to go round again.

Make him earn his spot.

I watched the Collingwood Port Melbourne game the other week, jolly looked past it. Hudson looked the far better player.

Jeez some people have thin skin. Jolly wrote an article explaining why he left Melbourne. Daniher didn't play him and didn't have much time for him. So he moved on.

What am I missing here?

don't say anything like honesty about any favourites. its a led zeppelin argument.

Despite the lack of success with our mature-age recruits last year, I am generally all for it as long as they are on one-year contracts. We should be looking at given a lifeline to players like Cross, Chapman, Tuck, Lovett-Murray and O'Hailpin because they will typically provide better output than a late draft pick and come at no cost.

In saying that, I think Jolly is cooked and we would be better off getting games into Gawn and Spencer.

So we go and dump an All Australian ruckman for Jolly a guy who has been passed around 3 clubs?

Don't get me wrong i would love to have him as a Ruck Coach and a player who can bring premiership experience to our club.

If Paul Roos was not coach and new coach x was talking about picking up Jolly particularly after the fantastic success of our mature age players this year he would be howled down on this site.

I dont think its a good idea unless it is a Ben Hudson set up and it is clear he is there as absolute back up and to mentor and nothing more.

I agree put him on our rookie list and use him as a last resort as well as being a our ruck coach, he could also help develop guys like Spencer and Gawn.

In all fairness he did choose to leave Melbourne and Sydney.

Jolly left both Melbourne and Sydney of his own volition. He wasn't pushed out in either case.

As for Jamar being All Australian - that was some years back, and he's been anything but since.

I hope they're interviewing him for the part-time ruck coaching role

Agreed. About all he is really useful for ATM. Good player in his prime, but it's over.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
