There was discussion at the weekend that Collingwood would dump Darren Jolly and he would return to the MFC. (Source Tony Jones Channel 9).

I am just putting it out there,

I am just putting it out there,

He might as a coach, couldn't see it as a player. We already have Jamar as an ageing ruck.

Thompson wanted to go home. Seem to have forgotten some other 'stars' that I dont wan't back - Bennell, Buckley (Simon), Maric (though he cut up Casey yesterday), Gysberts (at least he was able to get the ball!)

Posted (edited)

I was sad to see some go and wish they hadn't but don't really want any back.

Gysberts - pretty upset that Neeld showed him the door

Moloney - again Neelds fault

Rivers - see above

People change their mind. I hear from some Crows contacts that he is going to be traded and those showing interest are mostly Melbourne clubs which he is comfortable with.

Now I wonder who that might be?

Moloney - again Neelds fault

Rivers - see above

Rivers left to play finals - no ones fault and understandable

Moloney left because he wanted to be captain and Neeld didnt do enough to retain him (half and half)

Gee wiz people will do anything to hang something on Neeld.

What next?

A bird pooped on my car - Neelds fault

Labour lost the election - Neelds fault

Lost my wallett - Neelds fault

Nice weather today - Neelds fault

Bad weather today - Neelds fault

Receding hair line - actually is Neelds fault

I never left....

my you've got a lot of time on your hands what with playing & coaching etc... & nearly 3600 posts on de'land... has sheedy learnt anything from us? ;)

Liam Jurrah is the only player who has been on an MFC list previously, but is currently not, that I would 'take back'.

Id wear this...if it was to happen on anything approaching an even keel.

As far as footy goes, the guys a freak. Surrounded by a more disciplined able and capable team. Hed be worth the entry price alone.

So much to happen before that though/ idea 10/10 likelyhood ... ..well bookies wont take it

I would Like to see Adem Yze at Hawthorn and Shane Woewodin at Brisbane come back as assistant coaches.

That would be a big promotion for Yze. I'm pretty sure he's just a runner at Hawthorn.

Gysberts - did not play one game for the Kangaroos senior side, which suggests he hasn't really developed into anything more than a good VFL footballer at this stage.

Moloney - helped create the poor culture that has been put in place and was only ever interested in himself, thank goodness Neeld and Co let him go.

Rivers - left to play finals football, and it was reported by Neeld in one of his pressers that there were concerns about Rivers' knees, and lo and behold he has only played 8 games (including finals) this season.

Others:

Petterd - I wonder whether we would have been better off moving him back to play off the half-back line as he has looked quite good there for the Tigers. Wouldn't mind having him back.

Stef Martin - has hardly played at Brisbane due to injuries (sound familiar), only five games, and looks to have been overtaken in the forward line by Lisle, and in the ruck by Longer. Wouldn't get a game ahead of Fitzy, Gawn and Spencer anyway.

Morton - has only played a couple of games for West Coast, and was a sub for most of those with little impact. Probably wouldn't have even gotten a game if not for all the injuries to the West Coast midfield.

Bennell - didn't play a senior game. Similar to the Gysberts situation.

I'm not sure who I've missed, but going through the list of players we let go at the end of the year, Petterd looks to be the only one who might have been worth holding onto as he is the only one that has played regalar games this year, and has performed a role that we have a need for off the half back line.

Good, thoughtful post. I agree Petterd would be handy down back, maybe frees Grimes up to go more on the ball.

The ones I think have had the greatest impact on the team have been the loss of Jurrah and Wonnamiri. When both of them were fit, firing and in the right mind set they could turn a game, and Austin was a seriously good crumbling forward who could fit perfectly in our forward line next year. Likewise, a fit, mentally and physically, Liam Jurrah.

Their return won't happen of course, but in terms of the losses which have hurt us the most, I would nominate those two. Ironically, neither loss was the fault of the club (in fact quite the opposite), which is more than you can say for the rest.

Nathan Bassett - 200+ games

I think I would have liked Nathan Bassett.

we moved him on, a year after we rookied him back in 1997... we sent him to Adelaide partway thru 1998, a year after Balme finished up.

I thought this post was going to be about which explayers we want involved back at the club, eg neitz in a bigger capacity, White, Jmac, Febeys... wouldnt it be great to have some of these guys back at the club, some in coaching capacity for instance it would be nice if jmac could get into a mid field coaching role or even roos apprentice...

No. Seriously no. We've been bitching about the Melbourne "boys club" and where it's got us

Jackson identified our habit of going for the best "Melbourne" person rather than the best person

Why go there ?

Most of the blokes that have achieved success at our club are brown bread mate. Time to look outside

Best available

Footy first

As for which players I'd like back, none from that list. I don't want a fair chunk of the ones we've still got !

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
