Didnt get to see the game - how was Davis?

horrible-not up to afl standard, yes I know he was on debut today

Shannon Byrnes just go away Silvia show some interest fellow players learn to kick Just pathetic again

Byrnes is a total waste of space for us. Every possession is a turnover. Every shot at goal is a miss. 1.5 and several other misses that went out. I just don't get why he gets a game.

If Craig wanted to win the game then he has no chance of getting the coaching gig. To leave Watts behind the ball especially in the last quarter when the Suns were out on their feet was a joke. He should have been up forward. He had already kicked two and was the only one likely to score. If anything Davis could have played further up the ground. Why do you play defensive when you are a few goals behind and there is about 12 minutes to play. I thought the idea was to win the game.

I know one thing for sure, we are the worst skilled side in the AFL and probably the dumbest. The turnovers and missed set shots, gifted the game to the Suns tonight.

Byrnes wasn't on his pat malone on this one.

Kent was poor in front of goal.

Tapscott missed a couple - that 'snap' from a set shot was terrible.

Yep that's true but Byrnes is an experienced player and should have nailed them.

The other two plenty of time to work on it.

Byrnes, Davey and Nicho are finished, gone, DDDDDDDone.

Yeah, Davey has been our highest paid player over the past few years, lucky he wasn't paid on performance.

MFC is lucky I don't have the broom.

Captains had zero impact for probably the 5th game in a row.

[censored] me dead they are not up to be playing in the [censored] team at the moment let alone being the captains. Trade now because we still might be able to get some witches hats, or maybe a pot plant for them both.

Hardly even worth replying to ridiculous hyperbole like this, but both Grimes and Trengove had more possessions than Gary "best player in the AFL" Ablett, and across town, they also had more than Nick Maxwell and Kieren Jack (Swans co-captain).

Was in total agreement with the commentators when they were asking why Watts was playing spare man in defence while we had it in our forward half for the best part of the last quarter.

Have no idea what the coaches were thinking.

And BTW, Watts must be signed. Smart footballer and salubrious kick.

To be fair he is really a Backman and not a forward

Redleg, I like to think that I'm upbeat with my comments (mostly). But you have nailed it. We are so f#cken dumb. We get rid of dumbass Morton and replace him with two more unaware players.

Shannon Byrnes should never play again YOU WON A PREMIERSHIP FFS SURELY YOU KNOW HOW TO KICK YOU MUPPET !!

Davis I thought was ok ... He competed well and brought the ball to ground

Viney was solid

Nathan Jones is amazing

Garland killed it

The rest were ok but 10.17 at afl level is pathetic

Watts is a gun, clubs will be lining up, Jack Watts is surrounded by absolute rubbish, players that wouldn't be anywhere near gettnig a gig at other clubs.

If Watts leaves, we'll get a top ten pick for him, absolutely certain of that, Jack Watts is rated more highly now - than he has ever been, and rightfully so.

At least Davey came on as a sub in the last quarter and had five disposals including soccering a goal. Bit of a contrast with Byrnes who played four quarters and kicked 5.1. 1.5!

Grimes had 24 possessions which was the same as Viney

Wonder how many we're effective?

I could not give a [censored]. Viney impacted the game.

Grimes did not. The only thing grimes did that impacted the game was miss a shot for goal from 15m out directly in front on the run.

Should have pushed Davis back and put Watts up forward in the last, to try and win it.

We had a lot of momentum and amature kickers like Nicholson, Kent and especially bloody Byrnes, killed all of our momentum by fluffing easy shots on goal.

Take out Nicholson and Davis and replace with Howe and Dawes and we win the game. Not to mention Frawley down back, Watts up forward and of course Mitch Clark.

I thought the midfield worked hard, and even without Sylvia doing much (as always), Jones, Viney and McKenzie did a great job getting the ball out of the stoppages. Viney is a machine, he will be a great player and incredibly valuable. And I think McKenzie reminded a few players why he is so important, in a midfield that is otherwise awful. In a great team, no he wouldn't get a game, but he serves a very important purpose at the moment and should play each and every week.

Thought Strauss did well, his kicking is still a pleasure to watch. He should be doing the Watts role, and playing the loose rebounding defender.

And finally, Nathan Jones is a superstar, and without him we are well and truly farked.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
