Which are indicative of effort. I don't reckon anyone in the world would reckon we were close.

I'm happy to disagree Nash. I respect your opinion, but I'm standing by mine that the effort in the first half was nowhere near good enough.

Played the best team in the comp in front of their own parochial crowd, and lost by 10 goals (ish) which is realistically about par, even in the wet. But still, I thought that was a pretty pathetic performance. The first 10-15 we cracked in and won more of the contested ball and looked like we would hold our own, but from then on we went into our shells and ultimately got completely dominated. Only a couple held their own today.

Even players who should thrive in such conditions such as Grimes, Trengove and co really failed to have any impact.

From being at the ground today there was nothing wrong with our endeavour. A poorly skilled side is always going to be worse in appalling conditions. We would lose the clearance then not have the skills to get the ball out of defence. Score and inside 50 count was reflective of our skills and decision making not our effort.

Our players are still too reactive.

Hopefully with experience and a few wins, they'll start to make the play more often. We're going to learn a whole lot about our boys over the next 6 rounds. Games against Brisbane, GC, GWS and the Western Bulldogs will show where we're at against teams similar to us - hopefully we'll find that a few players are desperate to play senior footy and can do so at a higher level than they've shown.

Reading the AFL site with an article where it raves that we have an unwanted record.

Who cares about historical figures that have no bearing on the results of football at present.

In reality we played one of the most successful sides of recent times, known wet trackers and we had a dip.

These articles about unwanted records etc, I don't know what the point of them is or what the intentions of the writers are.

Yes MFC is struggling, but we would not be the only side in the competition to go down against Geelong in the wet.

Not often there's a game where both sides lay 100+ tackles!

120 hitouts in a game is incredible, too.

Shame about the scoreline, annoying we failed so much when moving the ball forward. But I'm hardly shattered. Already thinking about next week.

Deemons are not physically tough enough, not mentally strong enough and are not fit enough. Sounds like we trained hard before xmas but not afterwards perhaps too much pudding !!!!!!, We still can't chase.

Get rid of co captains.TRENGOVE and GRIMES. and get rid of leadership group. Make DAWES or GARLAND or FRAWLEY captain.

Forget CRAIG as next year's coach, same belief's as NEELD. At 400 K a waste of money.

We must get BOYD, trade Jamar and or Bail plus pick N0.2 for pick NO.1. .................. WATTS should be used constantly as a ruck rover............. Mids should be better next year.

Thank god you have nothing to do with our list..!

unbelievable..

Look I know It was wet and groggy but il take this. Yes we still got flogged but would have been double if Neeld was coaching. Look at the positives:

Toumpas played well

Gawn was good

Matt Jones was good

Kent had a good first half but faded in the 2nd.

There is something there to work with.

Today looked like a team down on confidence with no real game plan against a stronger built, better skilled team with a strong game plan and and a willingness to commit to it. I thought the defensive effort was ok to good (seing as the game was mostly played in Geelong's half) but our transition to attack was virtually non-existent for most of the day. I was disappointing to see tackle after tackle go in, then someone like Selwood or Steve Johnson would just scoop the ball up one handed and pop in a goal or pass into a free forward. I guess that's the class we are looking for and why they are top 4. We do lack a system but I agree with many that our list is not as bad as some make out.

Agree with an earlier post about the commentating, patronising garbage from 'Everywhere' and that dope Dawain. The commentators were going on about how good the drafting for Geelong has been seeing they only get lower picks.....didn't mention the numerous father son picks they got previously.

What a joke. 10 of our players had 50% or worse efficiency.

Watts - 1 kick? What was he doing most of the day?

have you ever played in conditions like that and expect every kick and handball to hit a target?

When conditions are like that it will be a scrap and meaning just get quick kick to ball.

All we can take from today is Jimmy Toumpas can play and that is it. Nothing negative we just weren't good enough and the class players of Geelong shone today

I take that he is a squib

if nathan jones played for geelong he would have a brownlow medal

absolute champion for 150 great games

lol..no he wouldn't. Not even close actually.

But yes, a courageous 150. He often looks our of place in this side. I shudder to think where we'd be without the two Jones boys right now.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
