The Trade/Draft Rumour Mill

You can tell the season is over when the "real" journalists to on holidays, and you have clowns like Jay Clark trying to convince us that the dees are offering pick 2 for Heath Shaw.

Sure thing Jay.

Is that after we secure Jake King with Nathan Jones?

Heath shaw who the pies don't want plus pick 10 for pick 2 when we want mids.

Smacks to me the pies can't get Adams over the line on a trade.

I posted this elsewhere but will bring it into this proper thread. I'm proposing we trade Clark to freo. They need another big forward for a flag. In return could we entice a quality midfielder from them. Naturally I'd love fyfe hill or Mundy but would you settle on Barlow and their first round pick 17 or whatever it is. I think we will develop a great forward line even without Clark and he might not ever come up so well again. Surely roosy could pull off a good trade with his mate Lyon for the good of both teams. Be daring

Couple of observations.

the last thing gws and GC want or need is more draft picks. We will struggle to get either swallow or Adams with pick 2.

I wonder if dusty might take a smaller offer now the hype has died down?

most clubs now realize that the game is won or lost in the midfield so will hang on to their best mids.

the main thing we have in numbers is key position players.

Clark has more potential value than current trade value. His injuries mean his current value to trade is quite low, but his potential for us if he gets over it is high.

Don't trade him, won't be worth it.

Shaw and 10 for 2...

It's not good, it is the kind of thing that we will be told over and over again is fair though.

If Shaw gets 4 years it will be his last contract.

It's not how you build a list. And that is why I don't think it is on the cards.

I can see Roos giving up 2 for a couple of fringe mids who are young. Shaw is neither.

The idea of pick 2 for Shaw and pick 10 was more of an after thought in the article really. The main part was that GWS want Shaw and have someone like Taylor Adams to get it done. Pies would win big time out of that trade and later picks in the draft might be involved but GWS seem keen to add some experience to their list and someone like Shaw fits the bill.

Trading Pick 2 for a 28 year old half back who is undeniably talented but has repeatedly demonstrated an inability to control his temper on field with both team mates and opponents AND has a few off field incidents on his resume? Computer says no. Eddie will be desperate to get a good deal for Shaw to quiet the Maggies fans wondering just what his man Bucks is doing to their club but that does not mean we have to be the dummy who gives it to him.

WE NEED QUALITY BALL WINNING MIDS.

Just check out Jay Clarks player ratings for the GF and you will understand that he doesn't have a clue about the game.

I'd happily do this if it was Jay Clark we were trading to Freo. I'd also take a bag of feces in exchange, we'd be getting the better end of that deal.

And why do 1000's of single and available Asian women keep on wanting to chat to me via Demonland? Or your more mature fatties?

Just wondering.

Not sure - but I see Hyundai Ad because I've been searching for a new car.

As much as I love Grimes endeavour, Shaw is miles ahead in terms of ball use, awareness and pace. Having said that I would be astounded if pick 2 was used to aquire his services.

It's very difficult to judge the two players when you consider the differences in structure and overall team quality,

When Jack Grimes was drafted it was noted that he was a beautiful kick of the football, perhaps he looks like he has bad skills because the team is constantly under pressure and no one up the ground provides a decent option?

having said that Heath Shaw has been playing that role for a lot longer and is widely respected as being very good at it so he would still be a better player in my view.

can't see us offering pick 2 for Shaw and a pick, Roosy isn't that silly.

and Collingwood don't have pick 10 unless they trade for it, that's the part of the news report that tells me it's crap, they have pick 12 and potentially pick 13-15 if Dale Thomas leaves and they don't pick up a free agent.

Read somewhere yesterday Adelaide were talking about offering Bernie Vince and David Mackay for pick 2 because they didn't want to part with Rory Sloane or Brad Crouch and that's what we were demanding in return.

not sure if there is any truth to this, but if there was i'd keep pushing for Sloane, they wanted Aish enough to enquire in the first place and would have known it wouldn't come cheap.

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
