We should of picked Alwyn!

Posted

blah blah blah...

Midfielder James Tsitas (Falcons) and Zak Jones (Dandeneong Stingrays) were both prominent as Vic Country took a three-point advantage into the main break.

blah blah blah....

Quote from the match report for WA vs Vic Country yesterday.

I do see the "intangible" benefits of drafting the brother of a player already at the club, much like benefits of a father son.

Why are people saying Dylan Grimes should be at Melbourne? The guys is just as worse as jack in regards to injuries and we would be all very frustrated supporters having Dylan on the sidelines all the time.. Clark is driving us all mad re his foot imagine if we had Dylan lol. when he is injury free (which is rarely) he is a good player for sure.

Not disagreeing with you about his injuries keeping him off the park DD36, but during Dylan's draft year his injuries were unknown. I have a number of very astute Richmond supporting mates (I know, that sounds impossible) who are grateful that we overlooked Dylan. They say he is a player who makes their backline more complete when he's not injured. Once they clear up, I feel he will be a very good player for the Tigers.

While we are not a charity, I believe a younger brother will often lift his level of performance when playing alongside his sibling. Especially when the older one is as well respected as Nathan. If its a choice between two draftees of reasonably similar ability, I'd go the brother. I certainly hope he is as hard working as Nathan. Good luck to him regardless of where he goes.

I really hope we take him, though we shouldn't spend overs on him just because he's Chunks brother.

However he's shown enough to give the impression he can be a player. I think he could excel at the MFC, having such a driven and hard working role model in Nate.

Isn't he the 'young' brother that was with his dad at the queens bday clash a few years ago when that Filth supporter tried to pick a fight? Zac would surely have developed an extreme hatred of the Filth as a result. That must give him some determination not to be selected by them!

Good bloodlines, did you know their mum was on the TV show "Gladiators" back in its heyday? Believe she went by the name Storm

No way! Are you kidding? I loved that show!

<facepalm>

Is he any good?

I don't care about bloodlines.

We are not a charity.

IF he is a genuine contender for "best available" when the pick comes, sure, but don't elevate him just on his genes. (Cockatoo-C x2, Molloy, Gasper, Kavanagh, etc etc)

Sometimes it works as well, eg Kieren Jack and brother (so far). But as you say mono, if he's near the best available at our pick, yes, if not, pass.

Ditto! I had a mega crush on Storm as a 12 year old. I loved that show too. This news has rocked me!

I hope he is considered for our second round pick. He made the All Australian team, the skill is definitely there, I presume he will have a similar personality and work ethic to Nathan I just hope he slides enough for us to pick him up.

He was meant to be the best footballer of the three brothers.... However, nathan is the best athlete of the three

Storm was Charlene Machin. Lives and works in NSW.. Nothing to do with the Jones boys.

Would love him as a Demon if he is available from 2nd round onwards. Named All Australian, praised as one of the best half backs in his age group, and he is built and hungry just like our Nathan. Hopefully it falls our way and he can play alongside his older brother for many years to come!

I am impressed someone can start a rumour that Storm from Gladiators is Nathan Jones' mum and have idiots like me believe it.

I've heard big wraps on this kid, but it's unlikely he'll drift to our third round pick.

So, we might be put in a difficult position here, do we take him with our second round pick...

Or, do we gamble that he might possibly be there for our 3rd?

I'm tipping we will probably gamble he'll still be there and most likely he'll be gone.

But, our second pick is like gold in this draft, no doubt a VERY good player will slide.

Salem could slide and some even have Dunstan sliding!

It does happen... No-one would've tipped Grundy and Kennedy sliding to Collingwood last year.

Especially Grundy, as many had him going top 3!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
