I know it seems a trivial thing to some, but I'm wondering if a few of us here could put our heads together to send a few new emblem ideas to the MFC?

With a whole new approach and image needed, the emblem is a big part of it, and to me the current one is a bit spiritless and directionless like our club has been.

I'm not trying to start a thread on thoughts on the current one, it's been discussed a bit, but more wanting to start a thread for any creatives on here to throw some ideas around and do something productive for the club we love. More of an ideas thread rather than a MFC bashing thread.

I'll get the ball rolling with a quickie from last night while up with a 3 week old...

Too 50's to me .. The plain old shield... lol

The demon looks like a silhouette of the guy from MAD comics with horns.

Well I don't have much influence on winning games, so probably doesn't take away from the clubs resources when I throw around ideas at home.

Who said anything about a PR campaign or changing mascots? If the club ever wanted to use my ideas I'll gladly let them have them free.

A new emblem by default is a PR campaign and even if they did use yours (which isn't too bad) they would have to spend a fair amount of cash redesigning all the items that carry the old one - jumper, club vehicles, club kits and so on.

At any rate that's costing money.

I don't like it that much, why don't we bring back the old mascot, & danny corcoran as well... maybe put his head on a trident? theres an image that would scare any wicked spirits...

Great work Stuie, I love it.

I kinda like our current one; certainly don't love it. Far too busy and I know our history is amazing and all but incorporating it all visually wasn't the best idea in hindsight.

It's not meant to be a debate thread, it's meant to be an ideas thread, sorry to take you away from the MFC board meeting deciding our new coach, are you on lunch break from it?

Sorry stuie, I didn't mean to offend.

When I'm up with my screaming 13 month old tomorrow morning at 3 am I'll see what I can muster up.

Haha nah no offense taken mate.

Just trying to get a productive thread going.

Your one is pretty cool and retro, but wouldn't cut it as an official emblem of a AFL club.

I personally love the current one, I think its by far the best in the league.

Now if we could only play ...

I much prefer Stuie's emblem to the current emblem.

That said, I also like the MFC emblem that is written in a similar font and style to Carlton's (ie, just the letters, MFC, overlayed on itself). It's in the top section of the current emblem.

Stuie, I take your topic starter as it was intended. I like it. For big Jimma, maybe a shamrock in one corner? Hope the baby gave you some peace eventually.

I like our current emblem far better than what we have had for along long time. It looks great on our merchandise and jumper.

But I accept that people have different tastes. The one shown here looks like it sits on a beer bottle when I look at it.

Now back to winning some games of footy.

Good job on starting a creative thread, was getting over the same old thing! I think it's a great start however a little early 90's. I'll have to have a crack myself!

I didn't say meaningless, I said directionless. There's so many elements crammed into one thing, just all seems a bit buys and confused, especially for kids.

I guess my thinking was with all the changes going on let's try and build an actual Melbourne Demons image around simplicity and substance.

....................... but my comment wasn't directed at you stuie.

Anyway, I know what you are saying with 'simplicity and substance', but as an old fart, I prefer the heritage embodied in our current emblem.

Nice attempt Stuie. I like the present emblem for Flags. Something like yours on the players' jumpers and all the other club paraphernalia. I have to say i prefer this Demon version though..... quite similar. The only thing i might change here is the established bit down the bottom. I'd prefer to see something like The Mighty Demons, Home of The Mighty Demons or some reference to Demon in there. If you can imagine this in the old bold true red and a slightly lighter navy blue in order to avoid any Bumbers lookalike colours....

I hate the current emblem. All corporate. no soul. I've said before that to me it looks like about seven different design concepts jammed into one, and represents an era of the club I want to forget.

I really like the one in the OP, especially the silhouette as a throwback to the 80s demon. Great job stu, would get my vote.

I'm guessing the baby did it.

Lol... I actually like it but still would rather keep the current one... maybe this is a good merchandising logo though as it would have much more appeal for the kiddies. One thing though, when I look at the demon's head and those ears and try to imagine the face, I keep coming up with a mental image of Alfred E Newman.

Like it., but one question... is that an emblem or a guitar pick? ;-)

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
