WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS

Scott Selwood is a great player. If somehow we can get him off his WCE contract and lure him here, that would be an enormous get for this club.

If Roos is the reason why Selwood might entertain the thought of breaking his WCE contract, then that is just more evidence of why we needed an experienced coach of Roos' status.

Also, James Brayshaw is a [censored] of a sore loser. Questioning why we needed the money despite our membership and stuff. Well, James, have you seen our crowds? Have you seen our performances on field? Have you noticed that other clubs (yours included, I'd bet) don't want to host us because of the poor crowd and awful spectacle? We don't need money because we're running out of it, we need money because we need to pull ourselves up from oblivion.

I think id die of happiness if we got Scott Selwood

23 years old averages, 26 touches and 5 tackles, absolute machine who oozes leadership

Hes contracted so wed have to trade for him

Didn't a Selwood retire from WC?

R there 2 Selwoods at WC?

Or am I totally barking up the wrong tree here?

I once thought the same thing, but given where we are now, I'll take boring and winning to one way football of Bailey and the stop start football (with smashings) of Neeld.

Having said that I'll be happy with either of Williams or Eade also.

Losing by 10 goals plus every weekend is pretty damn boring too and if we are going to bore people, I would rather do it with wins on the board.. I don't think Swans are boring , perhaps a tad defensive but we are a leaking sieve now so tightening up with the players we have is only going to be a good thing..

Any more word on Roos?

heard Barrett saying we tabled a formal offer last night, imo if he met with PJ and directors last night it would more than likely be a signing situation, but that's just a guess

hopefully it's all a done deal and they're gunna let us know soon

as they have been doing for a while, out of respect for Neil Craig, they are just waiting for the season to be officially over, which it will be in about 4 hours time

This news has me buzzing so hopefully something comes from it

I would love Scott Selwood but cannot see it happening.

I had a thought today that I wouldn't mind hearing people's opinions on it

Possible trade with GC Suns Watts/Sylvia for Trent McKenzie ? Beautiful kick of the football from half back which is what we need. Suns have a dearth of talent ripe for the picking and either Watts or Sylvia and package up a draft pick aswell may be enough to get the deal done. Victorian boy too.

Another one is Luke Shuey another Melbourne boy who we could use in our midfield. Maybe even Andrew Gaff. If Worsfold goes as expected then we could really get into one or two of their ears and especially if we get Roos we may have a chance to snare one or 2 of them

Just a couple of ideas

Selwood retired, I hadn't read that before.

& only 13 games shy of 200 ???

maybe we could convince him to help us out for a year. whilst we teach our young squad the ways of responsible footy?

Geelong have the best Selwood by the length of the Flemington Straight. The remainder are Jack Dyer good ordinary footballer types. To wit role players in a great team but not great players themselves. We may consider the younger of the WC Selwoods in Scott but only at the right price. He would get a game in our midfield but he ain't no champ. I watch plenty of Weagles games on Fox. The older now retired WC Selwood has been running up and down on the same spot for a couple of seasons.

Agreed. The only Gold lives in Geelong. Scott is ok.

Couldn't agree more! About Dwayne Russel!

in relation to the getting a court junction remark..

Lets all keep in mind the Dwayne Russel is without a doubt the worst commentator in the game and his opinion holds about as much weight as Caroline Wilson at a comedy night.. the bloke is as interesting as a damp hot dog..

Judd turned Melb down because of our facilities (junction oval) And Aker and Ball were after immediate success..

I can imagine players getting an injunction to prevent Dwayno commentating on their games on the basis that it would damage their body of work.

within a week Eade is out and Roos is a 50/50.

I reckon Roos is over the line.

Eade is such a sook, first he wanted the job but didn't want to go through an interview process.

Then he goes through and interview process and when it looks like he won't get the job - he pulls out.

All to protect poor Rodneys ego. I see why Rocket has never been a success as a coach, he is inherently weak, cannot take criticism and most likely always has to be right.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
