Why would any CEO at a football club go away for a month during the season

Because he had already planned before he got appointed CEO and told the AFL he had it already booked.

Mike Shehan / 3aw tweeted Roos is a 3/10 chance of coaching melbourne next season! Forget him coaching us

Why does this stupid charade continue? If Roos is out then let's just get on with life.

How about the challenge?

Growing his legacy?

The prestige of resurrecting a club that has been in the wilderness for half a century?

Being a head coach again in a situation where he will be given whatever he says he needs to succeed?

Coaching in Melbourne where he grew up?

It's not that hard to think of some plausible reasons.

Maybe it's because most of our high draft picks have thus far shown SFA

The other way of looking at Mike S tweet is that he has been saying for a while that Paul Roos is zero chance and now it is30%

Mike Shehan / 3aw tweeted Roos is a 3/10 chance of coaching melbourne next season! Forget him coaching us

What does that even mean? Is Shehan giving himself an out on being wrong? Is Roos flipping coins? Does he keep yelling "No! No! No! Yes!" Have 3 of Shehan's gun sources said yes while 7 said no?

What a stupid tweet. He's either 100% yes or 100% no.

This other rubbish is Mike trying to read tea leafs and body language. Next story will be him and Robbo trying to feel the bumps on his head.

*Sigh*

- Disclaimer : I'd like Ratten, but if the AFL wants to pay Roos $39.6M per game, then who am I to stop them?

Or having the financial and people backing of the AFL.

Or having what Roos said was a promising list that had a number of holes to be filled.

I see it as a great challenge for a guy that loves to create success. If he wants to coach again, he'll take it. If there is no coaching drive left, he'll say no.

I just wish he would make up his mind so that WE can get on with it whether that is him being coach or not.

TBH I am becoming over all the speculation.

Because he has a life. And probably because he had it booked before he joined us.

There is a world outside football you know......

I wonder if this sub committee will target people for assistant coaching roles.

I'm hearing Roos wants a succession plan ala Longmire. If true that would mean at least one new assistant comes in next year. Of course, Roos would probably want to handpick them.

I have a feeling there will be more than 1 new assistant. I am pretty sure all assistants would be out of contract.

Mark Stevens on game just said jungle drums are beating and its nearly a done deal. 1 mill a year llus his own coaching group.

Still not confident.

Mark Stevens seemed confident we'll get Roos, on Ch 7's game day

Ok, so who out of Stevens and Shehan is the most reliable rumour monger?

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
