*EDIT*

Rephrasing my earlier sentiment.

Good to see the media have to sink to interviewing a guy (who happens to be the [censored] of all flogs) who can't get a game, in an effort to find new material to continue their onslaught against Melbourne.

Regardless of him not directly attacking us in this article, he's still a [censored]

Although I liked the part where he said he was one of the better runners at our club, we got a good look at that here.

TBH I don't know how you can argue with his article at all.

I know we're bad, but get a game, and some balls before you go slagging us off you absolute [censored] [censored].

You better read it again, he was fair and blamed no one but himself for his loss of form. He didn't blame the club at all and said he enjoyed being with us. All he said was that the WC mids trained harder and that is probably correct.

Not sure he was actually 'slagging us off' , but was really quite measured and honest.

The reality is , he's right about everything he's saying

Fair point. My anger is probably directed more to his general existence than this article.

Actually, what makes me the most angry is that the media have to sink to interviewing a guy who can't get a game, in an effort to find new material to continue their onslaught against Melbourne.

May rephrase the beginning of the thread

Not sure how you can have a go at him over this article. Actually quite fair and reasonable without going over the top. Rubbish footballer though.

I liked that post, then unliked it, just so I could like it again!

Cale, we don't have a Darren glass... It was meant to be you. You were a young player drafted very early, you showed leadership as an underage player. You didn't apply yourself cale..

Very harsh OP

Thought it was a good honest article

At least he did run which is more that I can say for half of our mids at the moment

Give him a year or 2 in the WAFL & he may become 2015's Matt Jones

well duh...we know there is a big difference between US and the rest.
Thats why we got Mission and are playing catch up.
We'll catch up eventually, just depends on how far back we truly were in terms of training, professionalism, pre-season work and general fitness. My guess is a long way off.
Will start to see us finally be up to speedish after this coming pre-season i predict.

Nothing wrong with Morton's comments but I agree the article is timed with our failure in the west. Very much a rub it in piece by the 'journalist'.

It's a very fair article actually. He raises the same points our coaches have, that we weren't working as hard as the good clubs and that we needed elite leaders around the club to set the standard at training and on the field. These are both things that Neeld addressed and has attempted to rectify. The level of training has been increased to almost AFL standard and he has tried to import players from successful clubs to give us some leadership and experience. This hasn't been working as well as we might have wished on game day, but id has apparently helped on the training track.

I've no intention of torturing myself any further by opening the link on the thoughts of "Splinter" Morton . Just don't ever report that Jesse H.( with dad )were seen entering the gates of Raheen for morning tea with Sticks and Jeanie . Now that really would be the end .

Shuey was drafted with pick 18 in 2008 along with Jack Watts (taken No.1 by Melbourne), Nic Naitanui (No.2, West Coast), Sam Blease (No.17, Melbourne), and James Strauss (No.19, Melbourne). Shuey played just six matches in his first two seasons.

This bit of the article is all haha you suck Melbourne. Totally irrelevant to Morton at West Coast.

I think we know who the [censored] is and it's not Cale. Unlike Moloney he blames himself and not the club.

Not slagging us off but speaking the truth.. this is why we should chase Worshfold or atleast any experience coach that knows what hard work is.

Posted

There's nothing wrong with this.

It's all true.

Under Bailey we didn't work hard enough, we didn't train hard enough, and that is one of the more pertinent reasons why we are struggling so much right now.

That was a good article. Cale was very fair in what he says.

The MFC is the one who should take note.

Cale killed his own career, but he does speak the truth.

Much better article in terms of that he still thinks highly of the club and wants us to have success. Look we failed at pick 4 with this one but he is right in regarding leadres who set the standard.. Giving away blokes like Mcdonald, Miller and bruce who set the standard at training was a mistake and now we are in a position now because of those stupid decisions.

As much as we all want to say that, I can't help but think that he'd be a far better AFL player right now if he'd been drafted by West Coast in the first place (which they nearly did, before settling on Masten).

you may well be right.

But that last pissant kick he gave to the Filth killed his career.

I read it as saying that when he joined the club and his years there they got off scott free.... no hardworking culture re fitness,,, & I'll add, 'no head over the footy', as my bit to this.

.... Also, the head over the footy has been missing since around the turn of this century. Only one handful of our players in the early 2000's put the head over the ball.

& it got worse from then on...

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
