Spencer and Gillies were comprehensively beaten last week against Box Hill, the stats I saw for Spencer were not in anyway an indication of what really happened at the game and Hawthorn (Box Hills) forwards had a field day.

Ok, so lets be honest and say we are taking these guys over as cover, we don't think we will need to use them and would rather get more game time into Pederson and Davis needs the run (well they kinda said that one).

I re read his comments from the Casey Game. How you could pick Gillies over Pedersen beggars belief.

a number of people who saw that game were saying Pedersen was the Best Casey Player and in the top three in the game.

Gillies wont play but I suspect he'll travel. Would hope Pederson plays another game at CHB as he was good last week. Expect it will just be Watts, Byrnes in for Toumpas, Bail.

Melbourne knows Gillies isn't going to play this week, but are taking him to Perth as an 'emergency' (would have to be a big bloody emergency) so that neither our seniors or reserves have to suffer from his ineptitude.. Maybe?

Does anyone know how Pedersen went last week (the game before the Hawks I mean)? I can understand not picking him if he has only played one good VFL game. But if he has been tearing it up for a few weeks, you'd think he deserves a game.

_{I have a similar train of thought and actually think it's a positive he's in the squad. I have no doubt he's not going to play this week. Our squad is too top heavy in defence as it is for the Dockers. If he travels and doesn't play he'll have to go back to the VFL the following week to get some match fitness which means we're at least a few weeks from seeing back in a Melbourne jumper.}

I love this stuff about 'working on the defensive side of the game'....I loved what 'KB' replied when the 'Ox' asked him if he ever laid a tackle in his career...'No David, I always had the ball'..

That's something our guys are not guilty of (getting the ball and if they do they give it back) and they still don't tackle. We have so many in the senior team still working on their defensive aspects how about we put some of the others up and give them a go at it. One of them can actually hit a target as well if he just happens to get the ball while working on defensive aspects, one of the others can actually out run opposition. How about that.

I'm not for gifting games but I think it's about time we see who can play and give them more that one or two games to prove it. Most of our senior side is being gifted games at the moment, it's called football not zone defence or stand around like a statue.

I think you'll find that a lot of our players try to tackle but are simply too weak or unskilled at the technique to bring the ball-carrier down. Some weights training and a few hours a week with the Storm boys should fix that though.

My guess re: Gillies is that they'd rather name him as an emergency rather than someone like Davis, then have that emergency not play and thus miss a game.

Surely Spencer misses too (no way he's better than Jamar or Gawn, and we'll be far too top heavy with all three).

Watts and Byrnes come in, Toumpas and either Bail or Strauss to make way.
