Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

he is a handball first type player. Similar to a Priddis in that he racks up huge possessions via handball and hurt factor is nowhere near the likes of a Dangerfield (kick first type player).

Yeah a Priddis type is a horrible option.  Let's give Mr. Brownlow a call and see what he thinks.

Tom Mitchell is a very good player and would be a great addition to our list.  He's really another Nathan Jones and there's nothing wrong with that.  I don't think his type is our highest priority but if we could get him it would be great.

According to the Newshounds he is off to the Hawks and Swans will agree, as the Buddy and Tippett money is now squeezing their cap.

He has apparently been offered less than he got this year, by the Swans.

So the Hawks possibly get OMeara and Mitchell?

How does that happen?

Oh well if it does , maybe we can then pounce on an Isaac Smith.

It's highly likely that if given the chance, both players would nominate Hawthorn, but Hawthorn won't have the picks to get both deals done. In which case, I'm hoping we can step in and snap up Mitchell.

Because Hodge, Burgoyne & Gibson took peanuts because they know their bodies are cooked, and will break down eventually next year.

Gibson has a bulging disc in his back, and knows he's unlikely to play much. I still don't know how he got on the park on Friday.

Hawks can't get enough picks to land those 2 unless they shed some of their best 22. Hartung looks Richmond bound which will land them a pick, but even if they trade this year's first rounder, next year's first rounder, this year's second rounder, next year's second rounder and the Hartung pick they are probably a pick short to land O'meara and Mitchell. Gold Coast have said publicly they will play hardball with O'meara and the going rate is 2 first rounders. Given the where hawthorn's picks fall, their 2 first rounders and a second rounder might not do it for GCS.

And they are required to use 2 first round picks across 4 years

Jake Niall on the coach can't see a way dawks can get this done. Swans don't want to do it but can't fit his demands in their cap.  Mention that they also would not want him at the Hawks. So is he smoky for another club.

Healy also made the correct point that why would Sydney let him go to one of their direct competitors. We might just be one of the clubs in the box-seat for him if we've offered him cash and he wants to come to Victoria.

Hawks first rounder this year for Mitchell. Hawks second rounder this year and next year's first rounder for O'Meara. They may have to give up a reasonable player, possibly a trade of picks as well. The problem for the Hawks is that their picks aren't going to be that high in the first round, around 14ish.

Interesting to see the Hawk team they put up on "On the Couch" with Mitchell, Vickery & O'Meara....still looked like an ageing team with problems ahead to me.

Brown was the only to make some sense, saying they have nothing on their list under 23yo. Dunstall said this is why they are after the young mids.

Said this before but they are taking a punt with O'Meara (he will cost them Breust & a pick), I think Mitchell is beige & Vickery a desperation move.

They really miss Roughy...

Yep, exactly. I was sitting next to my Hawthorn-supporting fiancee and said "that team does not scare me".

The arrogance of Dunstall. I've really gone off him this season. He plays this seemingly negative, hard-on-Hawthorn card to appear unbiased, but he is probably more biased than anyone and he let his little facade slip tonight. He appears super harsh on them and then when people legitimately begin to question Hawthorn, he sits back and arrogantly dismisses these thoughts as 'getting ahead of themselves'.

To be honest, it's probably how I'd play the media game if I was a commentator too, but what a [censored]. I can't wait to see these pompous flogs fall off the cliff.

I really do hope that when we're top 4 and challenging, our youngsters aren't driven by the dollar like this.

I get it that Franklin and Tippett are the main cause variable but still, they are a flag chance and a best 22 player is considering leaving.

If Franklin and Tippett want ongoing premiership success, they're the ones that should be taking a haircut, like the senior players at Geelong and Hawthorn have over their premiership years. Apparently the money being offered to Mitchell by the Swans is about the same as what we're paying Melksham. It's left Mitchell with no choice but to leave.

This scenario certainly does expose the negative side of long term, high price contracts.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Carlton

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
