Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I dont see a statement anywhere?

Watch ABC report, a statement from the club is cited at the end of the report.

Reading the texts and the story, it's clear there's no evidence of anything other than Dank and Bates talking to each other....

I still say this could be all Bates doing and the club were in the dark about the details.

Let's just wait for actual facts before lynching more MFC people.

How must our players feel. They all knew they were sitting on a ticking time bomb. What lies could the power brokers at Melbourne told them? Oh don't worry about the AFL they wont find out? Or we cleared it when them don't worry. I can certainly understand some reason for their insipid performances. They've been lied to continuously.

So it seems, have we.

Even if that is the case, its gross negligence on the behalf of Mark Neeld, Neil Craig and co.

What, are you for real?

If you are asked a question and you answer it truthfully, then according to you, unless you volunteer other matters, you have lied.

I'm not sure if you're seriously trying to defend that position. I sure hope not.

First of all, it wasn't in answer to a narrowly framed question. It was an MFC statement. Something you'd hope would be conclusive and offer full and frank disclosure, not hide behind semantics and clever wording.

Secondly, if you don't want to call it a lie, then what should we call it? A half-truth? A misrepresentation? A misleading statement? The exact term doesn't matter - the effect and perception of it is the same.

Anyway, as I have said, I think the more likely explanation is that the author of those statements did not know of the true extent of Dank's involvement with the football club, due to lies told by the people he associated with within the club to the MFC administration when it came calling.

Agree with that. We're all guessing for now until the facts come out, I'm just trying to think of some other scenarios.

AFL. Will. Unleash. Hell Cover up so often worse than the crime

That was a Tweet from Jon Ralph

I suspect tomorrow someone from the club will speak. Well I hope so. I suspect Andrew will have word with Don and Neeldy will again have to tell the players there is another investigation hang in there.

Apparently essendon didnt know of our connection with Dank until tonight. They are probably cheering that someone else is caught up in this.

I smell a shake down from Dank. His underworld cronies have told him to go into the business of blackmail and have suggested that MFC are a particularly soft target.

Dank would have said he has incriminating evidence and would have been told by MFC 'that's nice, we don't have any money'.

The next step in this conspiracy theory is the idea that Dank has incriminating evidence on other clubs and is using MFC (and EFC) as an example of what he will do if he isn't paid for silence.

1. Dank has released texts and now MFC looks like liars and cheats

2. MFC lied in statement from 5-Feb. He had links and we denied any involvement. Poor choice. God thing Schwab has gone. Others must follow.

3. Dan Bates must be sacked. Poor choice and should have come clean post the Bombers conference. He should have said "Yes. MFC had used bt belived all approved".

I run a business. Have a family. Make many many decisions. MFC are a shocking basketcase.

I love footy. I love MFc. But they (the people at the club) are very disappointing.

Dankers & Tankers. Bruise Free footy. Worse AFL Team ever. (I cannot argue right now). :(((((

one has to wonder where these text messages came from, it is unlikely Danks would have spread them as this would only show to the world that he cannot be trusted to keep confidential matters to himself, hence ruining what ever chance he had at a career in sports medicine. I wonder if the AFL or someone else has leaked these messages as they should not be that easy for someone to get. it does take the pressure of essendon now. if it goes the same way as tanking essendon will be forgiven because they confessed, melbourne will be fined $500,000 for some stupid trumped up charge, ala tanking but not tanking findings.

big differences b/n us and the bombers.

1.The drugs taken by us and them

2.Approval sought from the governing bodies

3.Club Doctor used by us-weapon used by them

4.Waiver forms

5.The club directed Essenscum to take their sh!t/ it seems individuals from mfc requested their stuff through the doc.

Having said that-nothing stops a good ol' media circus .

That's no longer the point; we denied it, it's amatuer hour again.

[censored] em all off.

Yep 'Robbie' I said something along the lines of hoping we were being truthful at the time it first came up about Dank and Melbourne. Past history concerned me then and it more than does now.

No matter if everything was above board there is no excuse for the deceit here and another reason why change had to happen at the club. Th sooner Jackson gets to the club the better but he has much more than 6 months work ahead of him.

Bit of a long bow to draw but could this be affecting the players performance? Knowing this Sword of Damocles is hanging over their heads ready to drop after seeing whats happened at Essendon could have a bearing on their mindset. I dunno probably just hoping more than anything...

Hasn't had much detriment to Essendung's performances, in fact may have drawn them closer.

I agree with demondame that this would go a long way towards explaining their lacklustre performances. If true we as supported really need to get behind the players - paints a different picture that's for sure.

Let them have a quick look at the Bummes' response and get on with it!!!!!!!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
