Going a bit hard there.

I'm also the type who will never give in in sport & will chasedown any opponent, even when the rest have given up...

I'm a passive loving greeny, who has great empathy & sypathy, but with a honed anger & aggression that can wither any aggressor when needed... & a depth of never give in when being attacked & would turn the tables on the attacker... & have had to on occasion, unfortunately.

for me now, the line has been crossed regards the MFC & the last few months since Caro/McLean launched their vexatious attacks.

now we are really backed up against the wall, & I feel like coming out fighting.. I've had enough of all the bulltish... against us,,, & from within..

This club also has to realise that we've turned our noses up against some who have had the recipes for success,,, & change those ways.

We just keep shooting ourselves in our own feet, through sour grapes & overly conservative ways, when its not necessary.

I loved Theo X when he played. I admire his passion.

But what credentials does he have in a management capacity? What could he do to 'sort out' MFC's FD?

I'd be more than happy to have him help out our current FD if they would like his help but I'm not sure that he should be doing anything more than that. It's a big step from SEN to management of a FD.

That was what i alluded to in my missing post - i can't imagine Neeld and the fd would be too keen for someone to come talk to the Don about how the FD is being run and offering advice on how it could be run better.

He didn't actually say that. He said that he would like to meet DM and see if he can help. He also suggested other former players would also be happy to help. He also said he didn't want a Board position.

Maybe he would be a perfect type of guy to find out from the players what they see as the problem areas, in an anonymous discussion and pass that onto those in control.

I hope at the end of the day that the resolve he makes is to continue to support the current football department and board and to empower the other ex players to do the same.

If that's not the case then I'd like to see him run for a spot on the board.

At the moment our entire board is commercial people with the exception of Greg Healy who is both a commercial and football mind. To me it makes sense to have an expanded football presence on the board. That way instead of Gary in one second out the next Lyon we have a sustained football presence.

I want to current coach to be supported by the board and if it does come to the case we need a new coach I want that person to be chosen by the board.

I look at Jason Dunstall at Hawthorn who appointed Clarkson then defended him against criticism and continued to support him.

We talk about unity at this club as the underlying problem. No unity, no trust, no culture. So I'm all for Ox helping to rally the troops behind the current football department or getting on the board and therefore presenting a united group to shape the changes to the department.

In actual fact we have sacked the likes of Pike, Farmer, and others who were risk takers.... & our failing has been we're too conservative & go into our shells 2 the drop of a 20 cent piece.

We should forget about the all time favourites who have taken us nowhere, & look to the types we perennially crap on.... can I mention a few names we've rejected... Sheedy, Matthews, Pike, Farmer was frowned on, Schwarta was frowned on, Alan Jakovich was also frowned on but we couldn't do without him,...

We as a club have turned our back on many people who could have supplied the Energies & Spirit we Lack...

IMO its the Conservative set up North-MCG, that kill this club.

Martin Pike had to be moved on, no matter how good a player he was. I have heard a pretty damning story about what caused his departure from the club that I will not repeat here but the man himself, an older and wiser version it would seem, said on Open Mike that there were ongoing issues with his time at Melbourne. He didn't pretend he was hardly treated by.

Jeff Farmer left of his own accord because he wanted to go back to Perth.

Ox was frowned upon, and the man himself will admit it, because he was leading some of the younger lads down a dark path. It's awesome to see he has turned his life around now but if we are talking about his time at the club and not now, then there was a good reason why he was frowned upon. I would suggest you look up Daniel Ward to see what I mean (though Ox assisted Wardy after the financial hit was taken).

Jaka could have been anything. If he had the training ethic of others, he would have been an all time club great. However, it wasn't in his nature to harness himself. Proof of that was shown in that he went to the Dogs, remained out of shape, played 9 games and then got delisted.

Hmm at least if Schwarz came in wrested some kind of footy control from the club we'd have a strong personality in there. This could end up getting a bit messy and I wouldn't want Schwarz to negatively impact on Craig's role.

It would be good if they brought him in as a sort of assistant in the footy department (though I don't know his credentials).

It would want to have been VERY damning given that he he was starring for us towards the end of 94 (including solid finals appearances) and went on to be a 4 x premiership player. He was a pretty wild fella in his early days, even according to his own accounts, but it would seem Norf and the Lions had no trouble getting the max out of him afterwards.

To be honest, he doesn't need to be a specialist coach, football chief or water boy to make a difference. It would just be nice to see some of the older blokes around the club, mentoring the younger fellas.

I'm not sure that the example of Gary Lyon is a ringing endorsement for unqualified former players getting involved in the football department.

I don't think it'll happen, but I'd love to see Schwarz as President. Whilst it's not essential, high profile Presidents such as notable media personalities and ex-players seem to do quite a good job. It also seems that the role of President is to inspire the supporters and to be the face of the administration side of the club, and that's something that I believe Ox could do quite well.
