I reckon he will be getting a few sneaky phone calls over the next day or two.

Does anyone think he is up for the challenge or will he tell them to get stuffed????

No good coach is willing to take the risk to come to us. The club acted like they got their man with Neeld. We only got neeld because malthouse, roos, clarkson and lyon said thanks but no thanks.

Would be an absolute stunning effort if he did. Maybe with misson he could be convinced we have the ability for fitness but I feel like he'd need a CEO and a recruiter of his choice to get warm. He'd then need new assistance and a bunch of players. How could you be convinced these blokes can offer anything.

Well I'd say we're a REAL good shot after tonight.

Would be an extremely brave man that takes on this club right now.

Having said that, anyone who can turn it around would become a part of AFL folklore. Saving the oldest club in the world. Not a bad thing to have on the resume.

Has to be a proven AFL coach. Give them whatever they want.

Thanks, but no thanks?

Do you reckon that they were this polite?

I keep hearing people say how brave Paul Roos would be to take this job on. If that's what he says, tack on another zero to his wage. Debt Demolition wasn't undertaken so that we could employ more people to staple leaflets. The next coaching hire couldn't be more critical. He's perfect for the job. Melbourne, do what a good club does and make it happen.

The poison chalice until major changes are made at the top.

...and please don't let Gary Lyon be involved anymore. I thought Eade was our best option last time but Gary in his wisdom thought not. Turned down Eade, turned down Sheedy.

What's he up to? Sniping from the sidelines, that's what.

Exactly.

Egotistical [censored].

I get the feeling that AFL intervention is coming sooner rather than later. Part of this intervention will involve the selection of a quality coach (I feel horrible for Mark Neeld but this clearly isn't working and I think he will leave soon, voluntarily or involuntarily). There is precedent for this as the AFL played a big part in getting Ron Barassi to Sydney, a team who was as bad as we are now. I think if they send out an SOS there is a good chance they can get someone to answer it.

Roos said last year On the Coach that he wouldn't even consider it with such an unstable administration.

Well he's in luck because some MORON decided to give Cameron Schwab a 3 YEAR CONTRACT FFS!!!

Roos is a coach who can get us playing co-ordinated semi competitive football. Neeld and Schwab have bled our list of first round draft talent. So no one can get us to be a winning team. If we still had Moloney, Jurrah, Petterd, Gys, Martin, Etc ie. players who can get involved in scoring plays maybe. But even without the talent a coach like Roos can inspire people to play cohesive steuctured football. Neeld uses negative reinforcement and puts pressure on the players which retards them.

I'm all for a new coach and CEO.

We had all of those players on our list and lost by 186 points.

yeah demonstrative, that list of players you named were ordinary. what did gys ever do? moloney was useless last year. petterd, martin. rubbish picks. jurrah was great yes, but not in 2012 and i dont think his type would shine in a team so low on confidence.

Yes Jurrah is Neelds fault, who is he playing with now? Darwin prison boys first 18?

Paul Roos would laugh down the phone if we called him.

I'd be tapping up Mark Williams

Choco would also laugh down the phone.

I reckon both will coach again, but they won't go to a club that destroys careers.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
