Jesse Hogan WOW!

I don't see how I've criticise anybody? I simply said " do we have to smash hogan with expectations" you started to knock me..... I didn't target anybody with my opinion......

I'm not unhappy about the way supporters have hyped up hogan, I just don't think it's necessary.... I doubt that anything I say on here will stop the hyper bowl......

Maybe I could be seen as targeting cowboy from hell..... but I was just trying to get under his skin, so he can give me smacks.....again.....lol....

It's still the off season so i'm still a happy chappy and you seem to be in good spirits aswell. I think we are both warming up though. I understand what you are saying about the expectations of Hogan but I can't help it. I'll scream at the top of a mountain how he will dominate the league while tiger supporters sit at the bottom of the mountain salivating over Petterd and Knights.

Like I've said before to others in the past, be more accountable then. Direct your post to a good example of what you call 'hyper bowl', there's been hundreds voice their excitement and the likes of you and C&B tell everyone to settle down by throwing a "do we have to smash his expectations" hand grenade.

I'm very happy with Hogan. And if I liken his swagger and his leading to a J.Brown, who gives a fcuk? Who are you to tell others "c'mon it's only one game!" Based on characteristics (which of there has been many) which are comparable.

In the game day thread I was one who threw the lid open because I know what I've seen of him in the lead up and on the night.

Very easy to say "it's only one game"...harder to establish what you've got.

i'am in good spirits.... Must be losing my touch....

It wasn't my intention to get you on the hogan thing.....HT took to that one.....geez...... I through in the tanking comment for you, but its getting a bit old.... I might have to come up with something else..... I've got six months....

P.S would be bloody great if Hogan turns out to be the champion that we all hoped for....

I'm sure we will find something to lock horns over in the next few months and I look forward to it. At least you are willing to criticize but not be shocked when someone disagrees.

this whole thread is the Hyper bowl..... I don't mind if people make comparisons..... And I understand the joy.... I'm feeling it as well...

I just don't like the idea of pumping up a player to heights they may not reach..... It sends out the wrong message.... And supporters feel let down when these hyped up players don't make it to the hyped up level.....lol.... I think your taking what I wrote to personal.... Surely I'm allow to comment.... IT WAS ONLY ONE GAME!!! Get over it....

This is a tad self-indulgent, but I posted the following on August 23 last year:

"I really rate Hogan. He's aggressive, imposing, has courage in the air, contests really well, splits packs, loves body contact and when we're starting to make inroads he and Clark will form a formidable forward-line. I can wait a year to get a player like him on our list. He's similar to Hurley, but moves like a midfielder and is a better mark. How many other quality 193cm key forwards of this type can you currently name in the AFL ? They're as rare as hen's teeth. He's a taller version of Jack Darling. An ordinary footballer like Cam Mooney ended up being a valuable contributor in premiership teams and kicked 67 goals one year. He didn't have a quarter of the talent of Hogan. We're desperate for another key forward and Hogan would be a 10 year fixture."

I made those remarks before I knew he'd end up at Melbourne. I then saw him at training over pre-season. I then get a glimpse of him at Casey during the intra-club. I then see him last Friday night during the NAB Cup and he's everything I expected and displayed the same traits we saw in the under 18 championships. You and some others can take all of the time you like, which is fair enough, but I'm kind of warm and gooey inside, because we've landed a future freaking thooopastar. I've never seen a more obvious star in my life.

I remember you pushing for Hogan all through the pre draft period and I had the one misgiving that he had yet to play against men, it's one reason I was pushing for Toumpas (couldn't believe it when we were able to pick him up at 4). You always believed then he would have no problem stepping up to senior company and I've seen nothing to say that won't be the case.

Forget Carey and forget the Ox, I see him as having the physical attributes and aggression of one "Plugger"...and that's something you won't hear me complaining about.

I am sure that everyone most here would take any of those in a flash

Bring on 2014

I think we'd find a way of coping.

Again.

And I'm touched that you care.

Is it just me, or have the Dees been in the media literally ten times more this year than at any other time in the last 15? Not just Caro's attacks, either, trade week, Viney, Hogan, free agency (both in and out), Casey relationship, the list goes on. I don't think we've received this much publicity in decades!

I dont agree we need to play Hogan this year..

Most successful teams stop turning over their B players once they get a few A+ players going through together. Jesse Viney and Toumpas may be A+

They make the best of them knowing some B players will be worth a spot in the ones at 26-29 when the team meshes behind the stars.

I would prefer to keep Jesse on ice for a year now as we may need his very best years to be starting 3 years away. Not 2.

Breretons best years were fading before he was 28.

Yeah I agree and in this day and age - any publicity is good publicity.. Seems to work for Mundine.

Now that the tanking saga is over - and we don't have to worry about Jurrah's antics, I'd hope we see more positive publicity and Hogan, Viney and Toumpas would be a good start, I think Viney and Toumpas will have great years, then we have Hogan next year with another top liner, we are extremely well placed going forward.

We are probably lucky that Scully did go to GWS as the tanking that was alledged to of happened - has yet to reap rewards.

But after Hogan, Viney, Toumpas start dominating in years to come, the issue will be raised, so thankfully this investigation happened now than later IMO.

If Mark Neeld popped into this thread, he would be demanding 98% of the posters to get back on the 'reality bus. Seriously, the comparasins here after 40 minutes of footbal are ludicrus!

Brereton

Carey

Brown

The kid is full of potential, but he has more than a marathon to go before he gets a game in real time

Can't even imagine Vlad saying yes to this. Seems silly to even ask, but what's the worse that could happen other than they think it's a joke and fine us half a mil.....

WTF is a hyper bowl?

You take a bag full of exaggeration, throw in a pinch of rhetoric and a dash of figerospeech, mix them all up in the Hyper Bowl, pour into a lined cake tin, refrigerate (or overheat) for 30 minutes and voila!... you have the perfect slice of hyperbole. Edited by hardtack

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
