I have just said i don't give a dam what the AFL say or think...i will never believe anything from HQ, but i am concerned about how our club is standing right now.

Just how united is it.

I feel the club has shown unity throughout this farce.

Certainly the board has shown unity of purpose.

The administration seems pretty tight.

The football department & the playing group seem fully focused.

Even if there are a few rats still in the ranks, I have a feeling their influence will wane pretty quickly now this issue is (almost) done.

Once the media vultures have picked the last shred off the 'tanking' carcass they'll move on to the next victim.

It's a pretty small world, the AFL. Not a good career move to burn your bridges as some former MFC employees have.

So WYL, focus on the footy for a while. It'll do you good.

Oh i will don't worry. Today is the last day for discussing this topic. 2 years ago we got shafted & i feel we got shafted again, while the rest of the AFL just watched on in silence.

This has got to have made changes inside the club, add the passing of Jimmy.

This is why i hope we members get a full apraisal of where we are and not fluff.

It is important.

Whilst I am not happy that the MFC is the scapegoat in this "tanking" fiasco, I am more concerned how this will affect sponsorship and our ability to pay the $500K fine.

McLardy has already referred to prominant finacial supporters of the Club and continually refers to the "Foundation Heroes".

As mentioned on Demonology by a Foundation member that I know. Not all Foundation Heroes have a lot of money.

It worries me that Don keeps referring to them to raise additional funds whenever it is needed. You can only go the well so many times before it dries up. The Club has to find other income streams without having to rely on this passionate but relatively small group of supporters.

I think "Winning" will cure all the ills at the footy club.......Clubs at the bottom of the ladder will always attract the wrong sort of media attention...

Winning will put more bums on seats........Will attract more supporters to members......Will increase sponsorship...ect....ect...

If we start winning evryone would start to feel good about the club and be proud to be members......

This is now the hard part.........We have to start WINNING....

Everyone will think we are tankers whether we accepted this or not.

The club did the right thing and I was never of the impression that the club was anything other than united these last 7 months, wyl.

The AFL was leaking to Caro and so were The Disgruntled Few but they are on the outer now and thier influence has evaporated now.

We can get on with some footy with a scandal-less FD, a rejuvenated playing list and some hope.

And if anyone calls us a tanker - you just tell them that you follow the only team proven to have never tanked.

Then tell them to turn around and watch the footy.

Re: Caro's question to Garry Lyon "do you want me to name names?"

Make no mistake: this was a very thinly veiled threat.

Garry didn't not hear her and get caught up in defending his own character.

He deliberately moved on quickly, and ignored the question as if he didn't hear it.

Lyon knew the names she was speaking of and didn't want them revealed.

It was a clear threat from Caroline to drop it and move on.

Putting aside all of my desire to get out of this squeaky clean - we never were.

That seems to be forgotten by some. We have 'dirty hands' in this matter. Unprovable maybe, but they are there and under oath who knows what may be disclosed.

Thanks rpfc thats the best bit of advice ive seen in all the comments on this.

I will add that it cost us $500k to do that and we are one of the few clubs with a strong and determined supporter base with the ability to subsidise the AFL costs.

They will need all the money they can get to bail out other investigations they are involved in through the actions of other clubs.

We have suffered with poor performance but we are also determined to improve.

Watch us!!!

What still does not sit well with me is that lies have been told...Yes i know that we did not "lose" as much as we could have BUT

When Jim Stynes took over as Prez his mantra was to bring the club together...Well i don't see too much of that now, as a member we all should be told more.

I do not believe for one moment that the CEO & the Board did not have full knowledge of what CC & DB were doing...They knew.

So when do i start believing what i am told?...

It is becoming expensive to go to the Footy now, on every level & i think we Demons have put up with more than any other side.

I still want some serious answers...because that letter that was sent out on Tuesday by DM was in know way reflected in what was proposed 2 weeks earlier when he replied to Wilson's bile...

I do not want to start a big sh!t fight in here, but i haven't felt good about this whole thing since tuesday, whilst others in here think it's fantastic..

We still do not have a definition of what we did but we rolled over...

I think it was BS. Caro would not have named names - it would have made her untrustworthy to all her contacts and her cred would have died on the spot. Furthermore, outing the idiot who was talking to her would be good for the club.

Gary should have called her on it.

Again, the 'name' she threatened to 'name' was the one 'telling' her what our unofficial defences were.

It could have been anyone connected to the club who had had enough and called her up and told her the things we have been saying for months.

She would only give names to distract and act as subterfuge.

I don't think we can trust anything she says, even if we want to 'hang the people' talking to her.

Grow a pair. Its over. we did what we did and we have copped a whack. Anything that was done was done with the interests of the club first and foremost. There is no personal enrichment or shady deals.

We lost a PP in 2003 and 2007. SOme say it was stolen from us both times. In 2009 we had the spectre of GWS and the SUns coming in to the comp where the draft picks would be distorted for some years.

We are here now and we need to be united and we need to say F*** off to every other club and the AFL. Particularly the media.

DOnt waste time getting angry at our club and its board or other members or other members of Ology or 'Land.

Focus on supporting Mark Neeld and our playing group for 2013. We need everyone on the same reality bus.

you miss the point completely. I am not getting angry. I just believe we ALL deserve more answers.

Agree. I think he was so angry she questioned his credibility that he didn't listen to what she said.

For all those worried about this business forever tarnishing us as tankers have a a squiz at today's papers. Nary a mention of anything to do with tanking save a couple of articles that are critical of the AFL in regard to having the incentive in place.

The back of the Hun screams about tiered ticket prices. The Bombers will be back in the news soon and the NAB cup will fill space. The journos are combing social media for the next juicy beat up.

In a weeks time most people won't even remember the dees were investigated little lone brand us tankers. Yesterday news, today's virtual chip wrapppers.

I yelled at the tele (reflects my mental state) "go on!" when she said that. Imagine outing a 'source' on national tv!?! It would have been professional self-immolation.

If you think I would ever eat my fish and chips when there's a possibility that Caroline Wilson's face is starting at me from the wrapping, you've got another thing coming!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
