Thereafter the group split into blues and whites for separate drills. Down the other end of the ground there seemed to be a kick out type drill. Whereas the end I was watching had a 6 on 6 exercise deep in defence where a group would try to move the ball out by hand under lots of pressure form the opposing 6 players. As expected the bigger bodies thrived with Jones and Viney the standouts, consistently being able to rebound the ball cleanly by hand. These two seem to be a level above all other midfielders with their pace, size and tenacity. Others who impressed were Strauss who showed good pace and was willing to back himself, Dunn again used his bigger body to break tackles and McKenzie was the standout chaser and haggler.

All in all a solid session with Dunn, Jones and Viney the standouts

Great report but you need to identify whether you are referring to N or M Jones!

Forgot about Matt Jones the reference was to Nath although Matt did get several plaudits from the coaches Brian Royal in particular.

How does Max Gawn look as far as 'coordination' goes?

People bag out Spencer because of his unco play and footy skills so I'm interested to know if Max appears to have a better set of skills.

He was kicking on the run at Friday training, and looked like Daniel Rich compared to Spencers efforts.

He really is a very good kick, and has excellent skills for a giraffe.

On the subject of giraffes, i swear Fitzpatrick is only 150cm tall to the base of his neck. Damn its a long neck....

People have taken the urine out of him since he made his debut.

Sure he looks a player. But it'll take one timid marking contest for people to go "Oh yeah, that's right, there's still that thing."

Big arms doesn't mean he's grown bigger balls.

Prove me wrong, big boy.

You actually barrack for the club, right? Sheesh....

I am glad to hear that Dunn is taking a leadership rôle in defence. He does have talent but IMO has lacked guidance and focus: presumably Neeld has laid down the law and demanded, something previous coaches have not done, specifics from him and he has taken up the challenge. Good luck to him.

If Lynden makes the grade it is as much kudos to Neeld as to him.

Chip's facial expression seems to suggest that he is on the backend of a bad whaft of air passing through from Watts Shirt flapping

Olisik, that'd be 'cause he's been pumping the protein powders and not the peptides, trust me, they can help produce a formidable scent.

Hi...coming to Melbourne from Sydney between Friday 15th to Monday 18th...would love to catch a training run..

Can anyone advise when where and at what time they train..

Thanks a lot... Go Dees!!!.....Geejazzer

Geejazzer, 3pm, Casey fields this Friday would be the go if you could make it.

last week my grade 3/4 class and i had a quite deep discussion of what "normal" is. we basically came to the conclusion that normal is something you see reasonably often. a flying human wouldnt be normal if youd never seen one before, but if everyone flew it would be quite "normal".

i am sure that to most people, seeing a group of men and women disect the size and strength of a young mans chest may not be considered "normal". infact, it would probably be considered quite strange......... and yet....

watts does look bigger. but there is still room for improvement.

I think you'll find that link is from last year! Isn't this Friday the intraclub at Casey but it's in the morning?? Can someone confirm the time?

He's a hard gainer. But for his role down back he's perfectly big enough if he has the heart.

I can see him as the Go-To man across half back, but have doubts about his ability to defend tall against the high ball.

Just wont attack an aerial contest in the required fashion.

Brilliant distribution skills by foot, but needs to be fed the ball by others, or read and intercept Rivers style.

I for one are very happy with Watts development. He can play many position. HBF, CHB, wing, CHF, HFF. In this day and age Watts will be invaluable. He now has a nice size to him meaning more strength. IN 2 years time he will have more size therefore confidence to use his natural footballing ability and using his strength.

Most people will only build strrentgh after they have matured. 21 is a good timeto develop strength. He will only ge better from here and at better rate. His body has matured and he wil build a very nice size giong forward

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
