What song should the Demons run out to?

If things don't improve in the opening few rounds "Celebrate the Failure" by The Fauves.

May need to adapt some of the more politically charged lyrics, but Andrew Cox is a Melbourne supporter so I'm sure he'd be happy to oblige.

Not sure about this. Liverpool supporters have been singing "You'll Never Walk Alone" since the 60's, well before the 1985 disaster. Primarily it is sung to unify them as a supporter group. Likewise, I don't know the origins of the Hammers' "Blowing Bubbles" anthem, but I'd be surprised if it represents any higher purpose other than getting them pumped up for the game.. I did like the story about Michael Jackson going to a Hammers match and leaving before the first whistle had blown. He thought "Blowing Bubbles" was the crowd having a dig at his chimp.

Regardless, the EPL clubs in question have sung these songs for years. For an AFL club to choose a song and try to roll it out in a similar style in 2013 would be a desperate attempt to fabricate atmosphere.

I have said it before, I will say it again... Before the boys run down the race, a burst of Sirius by the Alan Parsons Project would be awesome. After the team is on the ground, 'The Grand Old Flag' and after that, no more music! Like 'YNWA' and Liverpool, the Chicago Bulls intros get the hairs standing up on the back of one's neck. This is coming from a Chelsea and LA Lakers fan. Of course, forget the scoreboard animations, fireworks etc. That song on it's own is awesome!

Bulls Intro.

My real answer is bring back the 2's.

i go to the footy to watch the footy & catch up with my dad.

I wish all the music apart from "Grand old Flag" would just p!ss off.

Hey, at least it's not the Basketball with the Tommy Hanlon "It Could be You" organ blasting away everytime a play is made! As for the Grand Old Flag, I wish they could find some way of incorporating the David Bridie/My Friend the Chocolate Cake version.

I was hoping they'd [censored] off the Velvet Trumpeter, now they're going to add a pox song to the start of game as well. FFS they should just stick to the theme song when the players come out.

I don't think they're attempting to replicate the EPL pre-match anthems, so it's not rolling it out in a similar style. The crowd won't be singing along to Muse or Iron Maiden..

If they did Fear of The Dark the crowd would have no choice but to sing along with the guitar intro!

Think it was mentioned earlier, but this is my suggestion;

Watched that Liverpool clip in an earlier post. Wouldn't it be great to have enough supporters at the 'G where we can all stand and give the "Melbourne" chant, holding our scraves above our head. Oh, that's right, 2 problems - we don't get enough people to the 'G, and those that do turn up want to scrap the idea of getting scarves as part of the membership. The bugler it is.

These are IMO the worls best fans (probably biased) and if you think the Dees fans are used to losing and winning nothing try supporting Ireland, only thing we could win is a world cup at drinking. This clip was taken towards the end of a 4-0 loss to Spain in European Championships

Having been critical of the MCG's choice of music (I swear it's Tony Schibeci taking the pi55) I support it being improved but If I have to go to the footy this year and witness us run out to some cliched 'anthem' I'll wear ear plugs. I mean AC/DC....really? Wasn't that CC's go at Freo?

Maybe pick a song the players my know. Most of them are under 25 and wouldn't know half the song you oldies have posted on here.

Bangarang by Skrillex will get them pumped as they run out the race.

it was great, perfect, until the thrash started up.

My taste in metal is showing through but wouldn't mind a short intro song like below thats a bit eerie and sounds hard. Won't be accessible to a lot of fans I would think but would certainly pump me up pre-game.

I know CSI has this...but a version of "Wont get fooled again "....totally cranked !!

Showing age maybe.. some other suggestions.. Try not getting up and going listen to VH's JUMP !!

a bit of ...hmm...kick ass Bruce... Europe's Final Countdown :) Always thought funny on Arrested Development too..lol

In thinking about this you really only want the key riffs.. keep it music only.. singing will just get garbled at the G.

AD has been o/s to study all these things.....Our game does not need gimmicks......Leave it bloody alone...

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
