I wish him well also, good luck and a long successful career Jack.

From a Dee point of view it was interesting to see the bond between the players after such a short time. I've heard talk of Neeld not being a great communicator with players, well I think his impromptu speech was on the money and showed a lot of respect and you could see the feeling from everyone. If this kid really wanted to play with us after a couple of weeks at the club then Neeld and his FD must be doing a lot right.

Hey...we may well have a real team to support next year.

I agree that it was handled very well by the club and Neeld's speech was spot on without over-doing it.

I think it's fair to say though that considering Neeld is such a meticulous planner, this outcome had been rehearsed even though it wasn't the one we desired.

Just a pity they didn't just draft him in the first place

Just shows how brutal the whole drafting thing is. People's lives and not knowing which side of the country they are going to be living for the next 2 years. And there the lucky ones that get drafted!!

Players are people to you know. :)

the footage on the site each day is really good for suporters. seeing that live i thought neeld did well to not dwell on it and be straight and sincere.

Maybe we can trade Hannath back next trading season? It's a shame that we have already traded our inspired No. 4 pick Cale Morton to West Coast.

Alas, poor Cale. I knew him, Horatio.

Gone but not forgotten, some people will just continue to kick you.

Morton was a spud of the highest calibre.

Sigh...

WC will let Cale run on the wing and he's going to have an impact for them. Especially in the wide open spaces out west.

Well certainly not OUR magic pudding, that is for sure.

James Magner - Jack Hannath

Training with St Kilda drafted by melb

Training with melb drafted by freo

More like 'an eye for an eye'.

We cut their lunch getting Clark, they cut ours getting Hannath.

A small victory for them but at the end of the day who would you rather have on the list?

Hannath might get a game in round 1.

Damn... I mean I wish the kid all the best but it's a shame we don't have him as a backup to Jamar seeing as though Gawn is injured and the jury is still out on Spencil and Fitzy.

Is there any word at all on gawnius maximus? I must say I have become hugely despondent about him ever pulling on the R&B again.

I forgot that he was 201cm and 102kg! Mighty shame that we didn't leave a pre-season pick (instead of rookies) but to do that we would of had to either delist an extra player or have not picked up Terlich, M. Jones and Kent with our late picks. I would be p-ssed off if any of them turned out duds but so far that does not look to be the case! Ce ;a vie!

The big Gawnius Maximus..... Yeh must have been a mighty bad hammy tear! By the time he fully recovers from that and then builds up his fitness, he probably won't be considered for selection till halfway through the year i reckon....

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
