Dees elevate Michael Evans and Dan Nicholson to primary list

Good news for Nicho.

I don't know so much about Evans.

I believe he had to be put on the senior list to retain him.

It gives him a chance to get himself right, but we still have Magner sitting there waiting to replace him if he falls over.

Happy with both Evans and Nicho being elevated and also happy to retain both Magner and Couch as rookies. It says something about Evans that he was elevated despite all his injury problems. I suspect Neeld sees Evans as potentially being the best of the bunch, if only we could get him on the park.

I had posted a few months back on a list thread that Evans had been offered a guaranteed contract to the senior list while under Bailey. Considering his injury issues and how precious space on the list is this may end up another significant gaff from Bailey. Here's hoping that he can get on the park as the kid can play.

If the reports are correct that he's only received a 1 year contract, then it's unlikely it's going to be that costly.

Can someone refresh my memory what type of player Evans is and what he offers.

I haven't seen much of him due to his injuries and its been a while since his first game where he picked up high 20 something disposals.

Pacy and hard working (outside) mid. Questionable disposal and, clearly, robustness of body are the concerns.

Evans has the X factor our midfield so desperately needs. If you ever watch him the kid pops up out of nowhere half the time and does some great things.

I agree. This bloke has the goods. Apparently West Coast were right into him.

Well done MFC.

All we need now is to keep our picks, and to have some luck. Just one lucky break. I'm sick of us having always to face the new ball on a green deck in overcast conditions - it's bloody soul destroying.

Both Evans and nicho need to bulk up over summer as their body types won't suit today's game.

This is one of the reasons that gys and cook were delisted and rodan recruited.

They both definitely have speed but that will only get them so far.

Today's game is yesterday's game, with changes coming to the interchange numbers it is important to have players with a big tank. Nicho has plenty of body strength, pace and endurance. It's his disposal and decision making that needs to be brushed up, I'm sure he will be working hard to get it right. Evans just needs to get his body right, showed a bit with the few senior games played. Both must be hard workers or this FD would empty them out.

We've got quite a good history of turning rookies into decent players (Junior, Davey, Jamar, Robbo come to mind). In fact someone with more time and a better memory might be able to put a whole team together. It would be interesting to see how it would match up against a team made up of players who didn't start as rookies.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
