WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DAVID RODAN

Demon Head

Can't hurt to see how he goes for almost nothing. Did he play in Port's premiership? I'm sure he wont be a walk up start, but the competition for spots will be good, and if he can prove that he deserves to be in the side, then great.

From memory YES

Think of him as a 1-2 year player. Next year we do the same.

Experience at low cost. If David REALLY wants to play he has a chance to make a difference.

Good recruiting in my book.

Will crumb the ball from Dawes & Clark contests i hope.

Garry Lyon personally sought him out so Melbourne will feature in the 2013 grandfinal footy show. He can help teach the small forwards where to run and move to, but definitely won't play much this year

It's not all Black or White, some people aren't over the moonwalk about this, but he could be Dangerous and kick the winning goal in a Thriller. I know these puns are Bad, but I just can't stop til I get enough.

Also Pederson's nickname is short for paedophile.

Totally agree WYL.

Of all the smallish players we have, not one knows how to crumb to a tall forward.

Even if he does re-injure his knee, I'm sure his knowledge will come in very handy mentoring our players.

He is the consummate crumber.

Dance for us David.

He's a hard worker

The key reason why we've got him IMO. Look at who we've picked up so far. All sold citizens and elite trainers - to a man. Conversely look at the players who have left or are rumored to be on the block. There have been question marks on their approach to training (with the possible exception of Rivers).

Neeld is desperate to drive up the training standards and clearly sees it as a fundamental element of successful sides. Where the risk of having an older bloke at the club who trains at 100%. Whose spot on the list is he taking?

If we could have drafted Rodan for nuttin.

Do you think this may be a trade off to give PA somethin for nuttin with a view

for North to get Jacobs with the pick 49 we can give them for Pederson?

We traded him for nothing.

Pick 88 is useless to us. Wouldn't get near that pick.

Another example of the club bringing in a player that has been in a successful program and played in a grand final (in 2007). Fill's a need, so a smart move by the club given we gave up practically nothing in pick 88.

Another poster on another site was very critical of Neeld in obtaining Rodan. Words such as Neeld is putting dad's army together "to save himself".

I'm taking note of all the posters who wanted to win games in 2012, the one's who were fed up, had enough, those that vote a minimum of 12 winning games next year, yet are now dismissing the trade moves as a move to "save himself" by obtaining experience.

You can't have it both ways. Well you can, but it makes you look like a dick.

I was initially critical of them getting Byrnes, but given the lack of capacity in being able to attract players through trade week (ie. a younger alternative), the one's they have got to fulfil specified roles including Byrnes, is a decent move in the interim and supports their objectives in setting standards.

I had similar thoughts about Byron Pickett and the FD didn't share my thoughts on him either and Ben Holland.

You should get a job at the club then.

Funny actually i loved Pickett and enjoyed watching Duchy play. But i also loved Templeton, Cottogio and Carmen

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury.
