Mustn't have seen many Casey games this year then! And besides, Fitz is on senior list and Jai merely a rookie.

I did heard KB and Balmey discussing (and I think I heard it right) this morning that the rookie list will be reduced from 6 to 4 next year. Can anyone confirm this??

i think(?) the change is just to the minimum not maximum

Not alot to be honest maybe a handful. From what I did see (and read) sheahan showed promise and spent a fare bit of his time down back when most of his football has been a key forward. Yep Fitzpatrick played some good footy for Casey I just don't see him as an afl player, watched him closly in the tac the year he was drafted didnt like him then and nothing has changed my mind since. Everychance he will proove me wrong as the footy department seem happy enough too persist with him. Also pretty sure we can cut Fitzpatrick and upgrade sheahan if we like!

He is mentioned on the HS web site as delisted......

Maybe so, but one thing i have learnt this month is.

Dont take any draft scoops ect from the HS.

i wouldnt be suprised if this was a case of a journo getting names confused. Maybe Davis or Williams?

Does the name Morton sound at all like Sheahan?

Why do people care so much, we all knew we were going to have a clean out, we finished 16th ffs.

This is a player that every team passed up and then we gave him a shot at a rookie spot and he still couldn't earn himself a senior game.

This just the start so people better get used to it.

Just a rookie. Would imagine Nicholson, Evans, Magner and Couch would be in front of him in terms of promotion. Imagine only one of them would be promoted,Nicholson for me, probably other three retained on the rookie list. Would have thought Leigh Williams would have gone before him though, being three years older.

Williams looks a beaut. So far.

seems odd considering we just lost Rivers, would have thought i decent defender as that is what i believe he has become would be what we can use

Massive call if true...

The kid looked good in the half dozen casey games i saw

looked like he could be a very good half back flank

was looking forward to our half back line being- sheehan, mcdonald, watts

Is there a minimum turnover requirement for the rookie draft like there is for nab draft

In Swahili it does. Best news I've had all day!

Find this hard to believe.

1st year of a 2 year contract....

Not correct -- a one year rookie.

love the way these articles always say 'He intends on continuing his AFL career elsewhere'

What AFL career exactly?

The one that's significantly more than yours.

I am gobsmacked if this is true.

WTF!!!

He showed plenty of promise this year at Casey.

So we have an article by Mr Clark as the only evidence and nothing out of the club. It cuold be right, especially with our over-the-top stockpile of tall timber, but I would have thought he'd shown more than enough to keep around.

But....it says so in the H-S so it just has to be true. They have never got anything wrong.

Case for; Given we just lost Rivers we don't have a real surplus of defenders and he's a nice size, very fit and a good kick. If he can add weight and learn to defend he's got a future.

Case against: Already have Frawley, McDonald, Watts, Sellar and maybe even Davis ahead of him as key defenders, how many do you need. Whilst he can run and kick there have been questions over his courage in the air and physicality defending.

I think he's got a lot more potential than Couch who I don't think is AFL grade.

I had a bit of a chat with Jai at the Demon's family day earlier this year while we were waiting in line for the Scenic Railway at Luna Park. Wasn't really sure who he was until he signed my daughters footy. I was struck by what a nice bloke he was. I had a bit of a Seinfeld moment with him though when I asked if he remembered the Big Dipper. He said he did. I went on to tell him how I rode the Big Dipper quite a few times in my day, what an awesome ride the Big Dipper was, and how nobody mentions the Big Dipper much now since the "accident". He looked at me kind of weird and the conversation kind of finished up. Didn't occur to me until much later he was probably too young to remember the ride but not too young to remember Robert Dipierdomenico.

New meaning to the word "mustache ride" lol

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
