Is Lucas' future cooked?

Add Hogan and Dawes to the forward line - no room for Lucas.

Add no one to the forward line - no room for Lucas.

I think it's pretty clear he doesn't have a spot at the MFC considering he has been playing Casey 2nds and hasn't cracked a senior game in two years.

Im pretty sure we picked him up the same year as mcdonald and howe yeh?

look how far those 2 blokes have come, if he's not cracking the casey firsts, perhaps its just not going to happen.

I had faith for a while, but lucas not getting a game in the firsts has stretched the faith.

Depends on how much he can develop as a 20-22yo imo

Could easily surpass Dawes, maybe not?

So far it looks as if Cooks development is going backwards, so I can't see him coming close to the player Dawes is.

Plus it looks like Dawes has about 53kg on him.

With a healthy Gawn next season there's the option of a Jamar and Gawn, Fitzy or Spencer as a Ruck/forward combination.

The best Cook can hope for is a good year of development to improve his standing.

He could easily run past Dawes, but Dawes would simply run through him.

He is 19 or 20, and Dawes turned spud spec this year, no guarantees he will come good, this is the gamble we take with Dawes.

I like Cook and have hope, if dawes had had 2 season of his best it would be much much harder but 2012 dawes is not a high bar to surpass imo

We could give Cook another five years and all we would end up with is another Newton / Molan / Rogers / Smith debacle.

When a player is no good, and Cook is clearly not ever going to become an AFL player (or even a decent VFL player at this rate), the best course of action for all concerned is to call it quits.

not for any of us to conclude especially since the kid hasn't played a game yet. some take longer than others to develop. Smith wasn't a debacle. He took massive screamers! and ended up a pretty resolute defender

He means Nick

Update: Probably missed an expertly hidden gag.

One could very well say no room for Watts either, particularly if we get Pederson who could fill CHB.

Heck at least he has some trade value, as opposed to Cook.

Absolutely miffed that a guy can be picked at 12 and 2 years later have a relatively injury free year and still be plodding around in the Casey Reserves. Someone has severely stuffed up here. Lucas obviously isn't cut out for AFL football, which is fine, but I find it amazing that a high pick can be used on someone so far off the mark. Pretty sure Barry Prendergast won't be putting this one on his resume if he is given the arse by Malthouse and is on the lookout for a new job.

Lucas Cook is "extra" burnt. He was worth a pick 30-40, and Bailey/Predergast chose him at #12 (yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy). We missed Shaun Atley (expected at 6-10 pick), Ben Jacobs & of course Jack Darling.

Prendergast should hang his head in SHAME.

Haven't we done this to death, or are some posters just bored and thought wny not give a few people a kicking AGAIN........and read the review....Cook had an interrupted season.......

If he gets delisted then the Footy Dept will have their reasons, if he doesn't same applies....nothing written on here will change that

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
