Attended a lunch today with Neil Craig as a guest speaker.

So impressive.

I can guarantee the tail is no longer wagging the dog. We have defined a high performance culture. Individuals that cannot meet the requirements will no longer be tolerated (respectfully).

So much more I gleaned from Neil but one thing is for sure ...

Whether we recruit trade or pick up free agents, they will be hand picked to fit a system, talent alone will not cut it.

A graph showing just how far the gap between u 18 comp and afl continues to widen makes for interesting reading. We will not be relying on just kids to pull us back up.

Also, we will not be dictated to on deals over Jack Viney. If GWS or GCS bid so be it. If we believe that Jack is third best in the draft we will match. Simple as that.

The guy might have revolutionized sport science in the AFL but he sure knows what constitutes leadership and how to create a high performance culture. They have started from scratch but they will not settle for mediocracy.

He mentioned that to create a culture of success you need people who have experienced this. Everyone wants to be successful but not many know what it takes to get there. Don't be surprised to only see trades and FA from successful clubs only.

Thanks for that

All sounds very positive and I look forward to the delivery over the next 12 months.

the proof will be in the pudding, not at the lecturn

That's profound.

Actually, the proof will be on the sporting field, not in some pudding.

Thanks for the update...enjoyed that.

So glad we've got Craig. He's almost the only one at any level of the club that Ive got real confidence in at the moment.

When he talks people listen and in a town where there's 7000 footy experts thats a tag not easily won.

I dont believe him about Viney though....and hope he's just playing the game. We'll see when it counts I guess.

fed up with the talk. time to walk the walk. i have noted several astute judges commented that mfc had the best young list and i have it on high authority this was a line Neeld Spruked to our Gary to get the job in the first place.

no further comment for now. if Craigy spits out the gum I'll back him. perhaps he should of been number one? would feel a lot more confident if he was. go dees all the same.

Anyone think to ask why Craig was let go by Adelaide?

He resigned himself, Sherlock.

No need to respond.

btw I loved Greg Parke.....horrible shot for goal though (I remember painfully filling in the points section of the old b&w footy record next to his name). but he was a huge mark and I had his autograph as a kid

The fact that Neil has addressed this gives me Hope our new footy dept knows the way. I've been harping on over the culture for 2 1/2 seasons.

Thanks for the feedback.

We're on our way to start.

I like hearing the talk but it's wearing thin

I haven't lost faith too much history with this club

I really hope we see some solid improvement after the train wreck that was season 2012

Because he's a coach and few coaches last longer than Craig did at the Crows, even fewer when they haven't won a flag. Finished top 2 in 2005-06 though and was unlucky not to get a flag.

I like Neil Craig, but a thread title like "Neil Craig - We are in great hands" just makes me think of "Relax, we've got this" for some reason...

Some Demon fans will be impressed with this sort of talk. However, I could have a vision on how I want the club to be run and speak quite eloquently. Doesn't mean it will happen or the players will embrace it. As many have noted we need to see results and quickly. Sport is about actions, and sadly what we have seen over the past six months has been dreadful.

Rodney Eade resigned (after he was pushed) too and is in a similar position at Collingwood. Wonder Pie?

Add Mark Williams to the list ...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
