Frankston v Casey Scorpions

KC from Casey

For those who watched - Did Gysberts run the game out well?

Probably won't matter. Our midfield is just on fire this year, which is why he has been struggling to break into our side. He was only listed as 2nd best on ground, so I think we will have to wait another 3-4 weeks where he gets BOG in at least 2-3, before he can get a crack in the juggernaut that is the MFC midfield.

Would probably be about time for Gys to get a game. I understand the idea of making him earn it but he has been a regular in the bests for Casey and has plenty of talent in him.

It's not like our seniors are doing great things.

That's not the Melbourne Tynan, it's his brother who plays for Casey.

Totally correct, but this Tynan would be a great pickup next year.

Gysberts was OK, but we need outside class and run, which he doesn't bring. By all means give him a game, but don't expect it to make much difference. Evans spread and pace would probably benefit the team more.

Did Evans play today? How did he go? Probably one of the more interesting players to have lined up today, most of the rest (from the named lineup) are very ho-hum.

Maybe a player that can get first dibs on the ball could feed it out to an outside runner?

He was good. As was Gys. And Fitz was ok. Morton = good stats but seemed soft at times.

Mortons time is up, simple.

Humbug. He almost single-handedly stopped the route against Port Melbourne in the second quarter. Really stood up and did the hard things when he was needed. He is inconsistent, but I think there is too much upside to write him off just yet. I like to think that it will click for him sooner or later.

hey its VFL, how many years do you want to give him. Im sure he tries, but he should be playing every game for Melbourne and playing well, but he aint.

I live in a bubble of eternal optimism. I look at guys like Tuck over at Richmond and see that sometimes a player takes longer than people expect to hit his stride at the top level. I think that Morton could do that.

Thanks KC and others even the day after its a good read

Maybe Couch Gysberts and Morton are developing something as a unit down there at CAsey that could be valuable going forward.

Do Couch and Gysbert do the heavy lifting and provide Morton the outside player with some ball?

Could that be the sort of thing that a coach can do by using the attributes of different types to get the best out of them.

Maybe rather than promoting one at a time we need to expose a combination

I'll have what he's having.

It must be nice to wake up every day and think rosy thoughts all day long.

Mortein is gone.

After a quiet first quarter Evans was really good. He's got the sort of energy and run that's presently missing from the senior team. Although a couple of times I thought he needed to go in harder.

Unlike a few on here I thought Morton had a decent game and he put his body on the line a few times. Like others I've run out of patience, but he was OK yesterday. It's terribly disappointing seeing a pick 4 running around for Casey in his 5th year.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
