Dees may trade early pick!!!

Tim Harringtion says in an article on the AFL site that the club may part with one of its compensation picks, if right trade come available - Demons may trade early pick!

I get the feeling they are going hammer and tongs at Travis Boak.

Having thought about it i think we would better with him instead of Cloke. You only need 1 big forward these days and we need a top line midfield.

I'd pefer if we parted with pick 12 maybe a player!!! GO DEES

The MFC obvoiusly seeks wisdom from this forum in all its dealings lol

In reality itjust seemed a logical path especially given last years dealings .

i agree and disagree. I agree we would be better off with Boak than Cloak (mainly because our mid field is the worst in the league) but the successful sides over the last 3-4 years have all had two big forwards and this is the current orthodoxy it would seem - Dawes/Cloke, Riewoldt/Kosi (successful is relative but they did make 3 GFs), Posialdly/Hawkins, Lynch/Darling-Cox (a stretch i know but they're been good over last season and a half), Franklin/Roughhead-Hale etc

Fair point Cloke and Dawes combo isn't really working this season in 2010 it was. They have had Blyar, Sidebottom and Fasolo giving them goals along with cloke Dawes has only kicked 9 for the year at full forward!!! We could really use another crumbing/ mid sized forward too. But invest in a real serious engine room!!!!

I say we use the picks 3,4 in the super draft and all other picks are to trade in for a Beams or wellingham or boak.

We are in a great postion to attack this FA and should move heaven and earth to fix our midfield so we can be the next westcoast.

I still think we have a strong 10 players on our current list that we can build a strong side around.

Trengove,Jones,frawley,Blease,Gysberts,Jamar,Grimes,Clark,Watts,Jurruh

If we can add 6 strong names to that list in 2013

Viney,Boak,Toumpas,Stringer,Wellingham,Knights

We could be playing finals in 2013 and having a real crack

We need midfielders. Clark and Jurrah will be a great forward line to build around throw in Watts & Sylvia and bring in a crumbed and it is a pretty dangerous forward line. Would like to bring in an experienced mid like Boak but even getting a GC player like Caddy or Prestia would be good. Would prefer not to part with pick 3 or 4 though (unless in a Viney deal for a 17yo pick) and considering we got Clark for pick 12 no reason we shouldnt be able to secure a decent mid (Boak) for that.

Dr, maybe you can answer me this one. What 17 year old that is eligible for this years mini draft (keeping in mind not all 17 year olds are eligible) is worth giving up pick 3 or 4 for, just so we can get Viney with a 2nd round pick?

Cloke wants far too many dollars and I'd be very happy to recruit Boak, but every club in the competition would prefer two big quality key forwards as opposed to one.

If there are some good deals to be done then i say Get rid of the top picks so there is no viney dilemma

Think you'll find that the father/son situation is sorted BEFORE players or picks can be traded. So we can't get rid of our first pick to push Viney to a 2nd rounder.

I don't think Geelong would be chasing Cloke - pretty sure they'd be happy with the 2 tall forwards they have (who I wouldn't rate in the same class as Cloke).

Absolutely it is sorted before the trade period. Some on here want to make "gentleman agreements" with GWS or GC prior to the F/S selections, so that they (GC/GWS) don't bid for Viney as there will be a "deal" coming their way from the MFC during trade week/month/how ever long it is these days. Of course, these deals can't be made public, as the AFL will consider it draft tampering.

I dont think so rpfc. Mid 1st round is more than anyone will give up.

The ladder position re Vic based clubs, for a Boak 'come home factor', says we are in a good position to offer our Mid 1st Rnd pick + some incentive.

We have the cap room to offer Boak a good financial package, & were not that far from the Surf Coast. Jonsey could show him the way down there.

Ladder re Victorian clubs picks, other than "comp picks" >>>

I think the jury is still out Jim on whether this year will really be a super-draft or not

Suggested elsewhere - 4 + 13 for Boak + 7 is a win-win deal for Port if he wants to leave and us if we really want him - assuming Port finish above the Dogs. Pick 7 should still deliver a decent mid.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
