Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He tackling was better. but his defensive effort and positioning is still a liability. Time after time everyone is manned up except for Watts who is 5m off his opponent and who's man becomes the outlet kick.

Houli had a shot from goal 40m out at a crucial time in the 3/4 when everyone was manned up besides Watts standing 5m off Hurley for no reason.

Some of it is work rate, some of it must be a complete lack of understanding about when to press up or push back. But Watts is still a liability defensively a lot of the time.

Why do you think Dawes was so keen to get around him after his chase against Adelaide?

Even when you're wrong you still back yourself up with baseless evidence.

Dawes we keen to get around him for an inspiring effort to keep up relentlass pressure. Dawes was also being a leader.

Youre [censored] clueless

What I don't understand is why all the other number one draft picks don't get this pressure? You never hear David Swallow, Tom Scully or Lachie Whitfield referred to as "number one draft pick". It's as if there has only been one draft in the past decade, bizarre.

This is what grates me big time.

Scummy is the HIGHEST paid player and no where near worth that and nothing is said apart from the odd comment. One bullet we did dodge big time.

As for Swallow and Whitfield who have done bugger all u hear nothing.

Hopefully Watts will stick up all of them.

it is odd that this 'pressure' is SO unexpected. mentoring plays such a big thing as they grow into AFL

Not really in Jack's case. I heard the SEN interview as well this morning with Roos and he was spot on. Roos was at the G as a opposition coach when Watts was rolled out for Queens Birthday. Roos spoke of Jack being hailed the hero/saviour of a very ordinary club in front of a packed MCG when he was in reality a skinny 18 year old Brighton school kid. No doubt Watts was feeling the pressure of being hailed a saviour before ever getting a kick. Roos spoke of Watts having a feeling that he had to be BOG every week to prove his worth. Now he just needs to play his role.

The worst thing about that day was Nick McCallum mentioning Watts in he tedious pre-game announcements he used to do. I remember hearing at the time and being embarrassed. Still, I think people hold on to that day as if it the cause of all his problems.

That whole day was a joke. You are right though his debut shouldn't account for everything but you compare Jack's god like expectations which the club didn't hose down with the expectations put on Salem/Tyson/JKH. Roos has put in place a system where a standout performance by one player is not expected. All players are required to play their role. It sounds boring but it must work on a mental level with the younger players where they know their role and do their best to perform it. Bloody hell I even sound like Roos.

Agreed.

He was putrid, embarrassing and just plain rubbish at times, no one can deny that. He has improved a lot and is doing a lot of the things we were crying our for him to do.

Love the adjectives...

Don't we get carried away with descriptors in football...

Not helpful in the slightest when we colour it up with words like that.

I agree (belatedly) with the master.

Its hard being Jack as he suffers from nerves.

In the 1st 3 qtrs if he took a mark he would go back and take his kick. Itseemed he was wary of playing on, into the arms and face of a player on his arse.

Last quarter he did what the team does and play on unconditionally and it lifted me and my mates(who had agreed with my comment). It seemed to be a team lifter too.

Absolutely classic. Your first problem is agreeing with the master. I'll leave it at that.

Absolutely classic. I really don't know what else to say about that post.

dude don't be so ignorant, you nor I have any idea of what Jack may or may not experience during games. Maybe he experiences anxiety? have you ever experienced that? most that havnt don't understand it and make unnecessary uneducated comments. Its rough.

Remember neitz? he used to vomit uncontrollably before games because he was so stressed.

so yeh nerves can affect a person...

Most of our wins have come against poor sides completely devoid of pressure or physicality. It's hardly a surprise that Watts thrives (at least the attacking part of his game) in those conditions and then there is a snowball effect because his disposals are often clean and result in scores and the goals he kicks.

But I see Watts as the icing once others make the cake.

Today was slightly more impressive because he put a sword to a weakening opponent instead of getting early goals against a mediocre one.

every comment you make is derogartory and pessimistic, your a drag buddy

I wasn't the one who suggested he "it's hard being Jack because he suffers from nerves"

Read my post and the one above in its entirety, I was quoting an idiotic statement someone had posted based on opinion after watching a game.

Please don't give lessons on anxiety and nerves, you write like your 8, get out from behind your keyboard and get some life experience.

lol chill bro. Maybe I misunderstood? was there pun intended? I for one wouldn't be surprised if jack did have some 'nerves' - not uncommon.

No need to attack my 'typing' skills - dude, we type on computers, you write in your book, you need to learn to type according to your audience. If you didn't understand the message I was conveying, I suggest you go back to school :).

Jacks efforts were great on the weekend. I loved his tackling and pressure efforts. Lets hope he can progress from here!

go dees!

If that is the incident I'm thinking of, there were two unmarked men inside our 50 and Watts was trying desperately to cover them both while screaming for someone to get over and pick one of them up. I actually thought he did really well on that one.

When correcting someone get it right. You're going to embarrass yourself if you get it wrong. Perhaps I'm wrong and his 8 writes and he is trying to emulate it.

Edit: When being a smart ars# check for typos! Egg on face!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
