Interesting as to what happens for tomorrow's game.

I'd be happy as a supporter to have the hankook/Kaspersky jumpers out there as they we loyal parters, dont want to see any energywatch

Do you think that Hankook and Kaspershy would want to be associated with this train wreck? I don't think they would want the jumpers to be used.

4 members in our household - we'll donate $100 bucks each to the club for being a place of principle and integrity. Well done MFC!

Good call and only call. It's decisions like these that define organisations. Head office should take notice.

Cam Schwab would want to be on the phone right now as we need a good news story soon and not a fluff piece with Davey and Neeld backslapping each other.

The board needs to put Schwab on notice......again!!

Where are you Don?

And they are gone, the clubs website has already removed advertising and both companies from the site.

To state the bleeding obvious we have finally completed our bottoming out process.

Agree and a great idea re the donations... but I hope you are not telling us that you have your 10 year old working in the mines to raise his $100 ;-)

it is an absolute disaster.

at least the club made the correct decision.

but we are going to be feeling the ramifications of this for YEARS to come.

while we will survive the current media rights deal - which requires 18 teams in the competition - our future as part of the afl will be sorely questioned thereafter.

I don't agree, we could actually come out of this better than before.

I see this as an enormous opportunity to stamp ourselves as a club of integrity and strength. The kind that attracts sponsors.

We are certainly getiing a lot of media lately.

I am hopeful that we will have little trouble attracting a sponsor, if one strikes while the iron is hot they will get good exposure right away. They can be the knight in shining armour supporting the clubs resolve to stand against racism and bigotry.

Getting his helmet and lantern fitted as we speak!

We should ask the AFL to allow us to wear the green jumpers we wore for St Patricks day.

I thought they looked great.

Or did they have EW plastered on them too???

Someone's got to go through our club with a fine tooth comb and check it's Feng Shui. There's got to be answer for all of this.

I was going to write, "And on a lighter note, at least we won't have to see those cringeworthy Jack Watts ads on TV any more". But I'm not so sure. I wonder whether Melbourne FC can stop the former sponsor who must not be named from using that ad now. Any lawyers out there with a view?

we're becoming a bloody rabble.

Melbourne needs to stand up this weekend. I will not be likened to st kilda and richmond and god forbid north melbourne.

If CS was negotiating with more than one party for the FOJ sponsor it allows him to offer more options and get two parties on board or maybe even three. The options certainly have broadened now!

Our brand can recover, it is easy, by winning games of football.

This week to me has felt like not only did we get knocked down but everyone who can has giving us a good kicking.

It is how we get back up from this that counts.

Hopefully we can show some positive signs at Subi this weekend

All we could do.

I don't mean to sound like an I told you so but the dogs were barking about this guy well before we took the sponsorship on. Shows how desperate we were (and are) for sponsors.

Interestingly it could make a great story for a WHite Knight company to come along and say " we applaud the Melb football club for taking this stand and hereby agree to replace their sponsorship". One can always hope.

Geez and I said yesterday that the Davey story wold blow over because there would be a new story out today I didn't think it would be us again and this of all things! Aargghh. We must have killed a black cat or something,,,,(nothing racist in that!)

It's all going to come down to the terms of the contract. It's possible that the club could seek an injunction to stop Energywatch using them, although my bigger concern is the club being sued for breach of contract. I hope we've got some strong cancellation terms in the contract otherwise the sponsorship could end up costing us money.

Proud of the clubs stance on this, on Aaron and on Liam. It is decisions like this one (that come at a cost) that make integrity a real part of our culture and brand at Melbourne rather than a aspiration in a vision statement.

Well done, Cam and the board of the MFC.

Cam Schwab

When this great club was foundered back in 1858, we played with no jumper sponsors. The recent termination of our energy watch sponsorship allows us to embrace this tradition once again”

The decision had to be made; it was the right one.

Maybe we'll get new sponsors out of pure sympathy?

On a practical implementation point, I wonder whether we'll be playing in jumpers without the former sponsor's name this weekend. I would have thought it would be hard to do, particularly with tomorrow being a public holiday.

I assume they'll tape over the logo. I'm pretty sure of one thing though: you won't see the words 'EnergyWatch' anywhere on our apparel from here on. Lots of tape.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
