Grimes on track for round one

Round one injury list

Lucas Cook (groin) - 2 weeks

Michael Evans (back) - indefinite

Max Gawn (knee) - season

Neville Jetta (ankle) - indefinite

Liam Jurrah (wrist) - 4 weeks

Jake Spencer (knee) - 6-8 weeks

James Strauss (concussion) - 1 week

Rory Taggert (back) - indefinite

Strauss was lucky not to have busted his face after that hit. I'm happy it's just concussion, but yes, the boy has been unlucky. Once he cleans up his defensive skills and gets on the park regularly, young James will be a weapon.

Looking forward to seeing Williams, but Taggert's back at such a young age is worrying.

I'm pretty sure that Grimes had the same issue when he was 1st drafted. These kids play footy 24/7 for their school, their club, representative footy etc etc. It puts an enormous stress on young bodies.

Hopefully, he recovers well, but this condition needs careful management and conditioning.

Williams Williams Williams Williams

We need a full blooded big strong goalkicker.

I have only seen video of him, he looks the goods.

Big strong skilled tough and kicks straight.

Cmon Williams, you good thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not a bad injury list to start the year with. Not many key players on it. Disappointing for the development of some of the young kids obviously, but injuries occur at a footy club and whilst a few more fancied players have had interrupted pre-seasons (Grimes, Morton, Tapscott, Sylvia, McKenzie etc), we're not as badly placed as we could have been.

What's the scoop on Evans? How did he do his back? He had a promising debut but seems to have faded from the picture since then, especially with the progression of other rookies such as Nicholson, Couch and Magner.

Gotta feel for Strauss. I'm looking forward to seeing him back on the MCG soon.

Jake Spencer has remained at 6 to 8 for the last two weeks.

Thats not as bad as LJ being 4 weeks for the last 4 months. Typical Demon injury recovery progression

Well I put the Kiss of Death on Evans when I selected him to be my big improver this year. He may not even play this year.

Or again at senior level.

His 2 year rookie stint expires at the end of this year.

surely LJ's 4 weeks is garbage - they can't put down to 'indefinite club suspension pending criminal conviction'

the fact that the Sylvia omission is club-imposed, it means we esssentially have a full-strength side for round 1 of the season, it has been a long while since that has happened. Props to David Mission?

Why would the club suspend him indefinitely? Surely it's business as usual until his time in court plays out.

How can you just go and presume innocence like that before he has been to court?

It sounds like you're sarcastically agreeing with me, but I'm not 100% sure, so I'll make my position clear: I'm not presuming innocence or guilt - I think it's completely irrelevant to whether he plays football or not and if he's found guilty, it's up to the law to impose sanction and not the MFC.

Yes Nasher , I was agreeing with you .Presumption of innocence is one of the primary tenets of the legal system .When his wrist and form are right ,he will be picked .As he should be .

kidding yourself

it is not a good look to have someone running around for your club with those sort of charges hanging over them, and its putting the individual under immense pressure. I would not expect him to be in red hot form anyway given the circumstances. they will be keeping him on the sidelines until some closure has occured, and rightfully so

What a great legal brain you have.

Bill Clinton ran the USA with some pretty hefty charges against him. Oh yeah, we wasn't guilty.

I hope you don't lose your job over an unproven charge - let's say a work colleague falsely accuses you of sexual harassment. Goodbye career.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
