Wow he sounded good and the panel asked some good questions.

He said there were such things as coaching non negotiables and that he expected certain things from the players and that they don't need to tell him about it - he would be able to tell by their actions. He also said that in his interview with MFC (they interviewed half a dozen candidates over the time) this is what's wrong with the list, these are the players you need, go out and fix it. The minute he became Melbourne coach the last thing that was on his mind was the Collingwood midfield. He said next Friday instead of being at the Coll Hawks game he would be at Melbourne best and fairest.

What I took from it...

Very very impressive - all three interviewing when it finished said "a more impressive interview you will not find".

He has non negotiables which he will put to the players straight away and that they are either in or they are out. Will be uncompromising with these.

Told the club he won't accept not having a good coaching group. Has people he wants to bring in, and that is well down the track in happening.

Has taken a lot of his philosophies from Malthouse and Blight. Has years and years worth of notes from his time with both.

During the interview he put his best 22 up on a board with holes missing in certain positions because he felt we had nobody to play those roles how he wants them to be played. Said to the panel to go tell the recruiting staff this is what we need, and to go get it.

He seems very much a one in all in mantra. Knows that the club needs a good shake up and sounds exactly the type of guy to make it happen.

i dont respect anyone more in the AFL world than Gerard WhateleyWhateley's thoughts on Neeld have made me very confident in the club's choice"a more impressive interview you will not hear"

I agree completely mephis. The bloke has his head screwed on in a way none of the other journos do I reckon. Now I need to find audio of this interview. I liked the way he spoke in the presser yesterday, and loved the things that MM had to say about him on SEN straight after the presser. As SMcF said, I cannot wait for season 2012.

Sounds like we've got a good one on our hands.

Even if he does turn out to be a flop (doubt it, but you can never be sure), at least he has got us excited for footy again. $cully who?

Now I await the "Sack Neeld" threads after our first loss in Round 4 next year. ;-)

Now that is agressive SS

You think we will the first 3?

Hard to imagine a more impressive interview. I know talk is cheap, but if our new coach turns out to be half as good as he sounds, we are on the money!

Successful football clubs need successful coaching groups. Yeeha. He said to the Club "what are you going to give me??" We need diverse backgrounds, diverse age groups (interesting!) and a range of skills.

About the list: Presented a list of 22 best players with a few gaps - players they needed to draft. Go get 'em. Right now there is anyone good enough to play in that role right now.

Very impressive interviewee.

POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs West Coast

Many warned that this was a danger game and the Demons were totally outclassed all game by a young Eagles team at Optus Stadium in Perth as they were defeated by 35 points.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
