Injury List - Round 6

From the Melbourne website...

"MELBOURNE has just four players on its injury list, although Tom Scully could be the only listed Demon not playing by the weekend.

Scully is still five weeks away from returning from a knee injury, sustained in the pre-season.

But ruckman Robert Campbell (achilles) and midfielder Jordie McKenzie (groin) are chances to make their first appearances for the season, pending fitness tests.

Sam Blease must also pass a test, after he suffered concussion playing for Casey last round against Frankston."

Melbourne injury list: round seven

Sam Blease (concussion) - test

Robert Campbell (achilles) - test

Jordie McKenzie (groin) - test

Tom Scully (knee) - 5 weeks

That injury list tells me something. We need to have a good hard look at ourselves. We have pretty much a full list to choose from with only Scully out of the best 22 (i like Jordie McKenzie but everyone on here suggesting he is going to be the saviour is kidding themselves)

sounds like a horse race.

I'll take $20 on the nose for Supporter Patience

and $20 a place for Melbourne Pride

good odds on the Trifecta too

When did anyone suggest that?

We're 17th in tackles, so I believe putting our best tackler back into the team will help some.

He will make Nathan zero-tackles Jones and his lazy team mates try a bit harder too.

What happened to James Strauss? Didn't play on the weekend and not on injury list?

Good question.

Excuse me for being sceptical but if we were traveling well would Mckenzie and Campbell still

be "2 weeks"

I cannot see Mckenzie playing for at least a couple of weeks.

He has no match play for over two months which effectively means a low preseason effort.

I will still be surprised if we see him this side of June.

And then perhaps as a sub.

Campbell is a rookie and won't come in unless there is another long term injury.

So the improvement for me is Mckenzie some time in July.

However I have been wrong before!

Agree with Geddy Lee, when did anyone refer to him as the saviour ?

its a damning commnetary on our team that should you take out this bloke or that then we suddenly seem incapable of tackling , shepherding etc etc. Are we that reliant on so few. If so this is the crux of our horror

Highly doubtful we'll get any decent football out of Jordie till at least mid-June. Look at Frawley, Brian Lake, etc for quality players without a pre-season coming in and struggling...

This ^. Of course Jordie's not the savior but it just so happens that his best skill - tackling (and general aggressiveness at the ball & man) - is probably what we're lacking the most at the moment.

I love the guy and can't wait until he returns. Reading that he might be available gave the first "yessssss" moment since Thursday. As far as I'm concerned he's back in at the instant that he can play out a match, and I don't care if he takes a while to find form; he can do that in the seniors.

Add James Frawley, clearly playing injured.

well its not clear or obvious (as another poster said) to me

all thats clear is he is not playing well

its possible he is playing injured but not clear or obvious

its more likely he is not fully fit after an incomplete preseason

there again as most of the team are insipid it might be something in the water at aami?

Too funny BZ  Unfortunately that's closer to the truth than i care to admit. Hoping this looming cacoon of horror fades away with a big turnaround in the next 8 weeks

When was Tom Scully's injury increased from a 4 week injury to a 6 week injury? I could swear that was a week before Easter ... so why is he still listed 5 weeks away?

After talking today to a colleague who knows the Scully family, I have a bad feeling about where he is at.

I know we don't want to start up again on the GWS scenario, but the word is he has signed with them, and now this extension of his unavailability looks suspicious.

Maybe he won't play another game with us.

If that happens what do we get in return? Another # 1 draft pick?

I dropped into training today, the only player missing was Scully; nowhere to be seen

Is he also the only player on our injury list?

If that was true the club would have placed him on the long term injury list so they could promote another rookie.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
