  1. The two oldest clubs in the competition going head to head … but we’ll be by far, they younger, fitter, faster and better.
  2. Yes, I know of someone with a son in an AFL club’s NGA. They usually start out with open days for eligible players within their zone for 14 year olds that are simply aimed at being fun and they then go on to be more serious with squads at 16/17. Jason Taylor referred to Mac playing in a trial game just before Covid 19 out at Beaconsfield before he showed some significant improvement through the Stingrays earlier this season. I got the impression that we didn’t put that much time into him - unlike Toby Bedford and Deakyn Smith who came to Melbourne through the NGA. We would be entitled to crack it if he we worked with him over a long period of time in which he was recognized as a future star and played in state under 16 and 18 squads and the like. But I don’t believe Taylor is claiming that. If we don’t get him, we might be stiff but we have no cause to complain.
  3. Does anyone know if there were in fact many Norwood fans among those who wore the red n blue in the crowd last night?

  7. From George’s Match on Demonland - “UMPIRES Donlon, Gavine, Rebeschini” The same trio. Had to favour the home team otherwise life in the hub would have been miserable for them. Still, they were good in the last quarter.
  8. I think that at some stage the club regarded Preuss as a tall forward/rucking option but that idea seems to have been shelved.
  9. Don’t know about that but our kicking for goal in the third quarter was our best of the season - 7.1 !!!!!!!!

  13. Fast finishing Allies topple Country as Metro hold on for victory
  14. Needs to harden up a bit IMO. Was too light and brushed off the ball too easily for mine.

  16. With Col Garland retired and everybody else on contract, it looks as if we're set to recruit four more players to fill our main list. Our last pick will be 47 - around the same place where we drafted Mitch Hannan last year so it looks like there's going to be a little more interest on draft night than there was last year.
  17. You should read the Q & A interview that WJ posted above about his injuries and the isolation a young kid from interstate would experience in that environment rather than rely on scuttlebutt.
  18. Is there any danger that they might get a guest presenter who shows past MFC games?
  19. By golly, Hogan is looking fantastic on the track.
  20. The AFL doesn't have many characters any more but Max is definitely one of them. A very important member of our list.
  21. What is it with footballers and motor vehicles? More off-season drama for Fremantle Dockers with midfielder Harley Bennell's car impounded "FREMANTLE have suffered yet another off-field misadventure with Harley Bennell’s car being impounded after he was stopped by police who discovered he was driving without a licence."
  22. Weren't they saying something much the same a year ago about Angus Brayshaw? A few BOG's at Casey made a helluva difference.
  23. If Prismall is in fact working in a welfare role at the club, he is engaged in an activity involving other players. Full stop. We really need a complete overhaul of the AFL Commission which has abdicated the role it was supposed to have when it was first formed.
