33,000 + it was, a little disappointing, but the F1 was chockers so i am sure that didn't help.

Not a bad crowd, given all the crowds this round have been down for some reason, but given the weather I was hoping for closer to 40,000. Another game in Melbourne on the same day doesn't help, nor does the F1. Hopefully it'll push towards 50,000 or even beyond next week against Hawthorn.

MCC quite full and noisy again. It's a great place to watch Melbourne play.

i did hear a sydney fan behind me say that even though we have less fans then collingwood and the other strong membership sides we are close to the loudest

hope its true

Not at 4.40 on a Sunday sadly. Graveyard slot.

It's the Stynes Factor.....

Despite the swans connection to South Melbourne they are an interstate team and over 30k against an interstater is a good result. Will be more against Hawthorn despite the slot as they have so many members as do we...

40k for the Hawks game, not that it matters because it is their home game and they get the gate receipt. I just hope we can ink a few more members next week.

The Members was as full as I can remember.

ARticle in The Age about how all the crowds are well down, something about "where are the crowds" so I think we did quite well. ie collwd only got 7,000 more than us despite their huge following. first up 40,000 for saints geelong i thing was extremely poor.

maybe the cost of living is hurting the average families. Food prices at the MCG for a family of 3-4 kids would kill my wallet.

Beers were $5 a pot...it all adds up.

Concerning.

On the TV all you could here was the crowd, well done to those who were there as the support was terrific.

Must have been a boost to the team.

I'm sure I saw a figure of ~35K for the Coll v Port game reported in one of the papers.

I thought it was quite a poor crowd actually. If it was a mid-season game, then it would be half decent, but given it was round 1, i thought more would have turned up. I reckon Melbourne had at least 25-27,000 of the 34,000 crowd. Which is not too bad. I thought there would have been a few more Swans/South supporters that would have turned up. If it were a Melbourne v North game, then i reckon mid 40,000 would have been at the game, which would have been very good for a Sunday game.

What i did like, was the roar from the crowd after the national anthem, too bad our players could only match our enthusiasm for 1.5 quarters.

I had a lot of friends that were at the Grand Prix, who would have been at the game otherwise.

Well... when I say a lot, I mean 3.

But it did have a tangible impact on crowd numbers.

Was in the AFL Members. Can't remember the MCC and Punt Road goal end being so jam packed before. The fans in those areas were loud and red. Was great to watch when we kicked a goal. The excitement levels just aren't the same in AFL Members.

After so amy years watching rubbish (not alot to cheer about) , the last couple years the supporters have been pumped and ready to explode when watching the side develop . A late injection of a fired up Ricky Bobby lifted the anticipation and there's nothing that raises the decibels more than a burst of goals and hard charge for the lead late in the game . If only they could've kicked straight , the roof woulda come off .

the roars for the Jamar mark and the Green goal were just awesome

love sitting in the olympic / northern for this very reason, the atmosphere is incredible at times

when we're not playing one of the big-drawing teams (collingwood etc) we average about 35k, so yesterday's crowd seemed about right, although i agree it felt like there were a few more there

I think e25 is close to the mark the whole round was less than expected.

GP had an effect, my daughter and son in law went along with two of my friends.

There has been a lot on in the last 6 weeks and the $ only goes so far.

I went to the GP on saturday Cans were $6.50, you run out of money long before you get drunk

even at my tender age!

I think our attendance was as good as anyone all things considered.

And even I would have been happy!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

Some veteran Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you the following observations from another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
