Good debut today for Tapscott.

If he keeps this up he will make a fool of some of the critics and hunch merchants around here.

Like all first year players he is still learning the caper and I look forward to his improvement this year.

Tapscott produced of the most impressive first games I have watched for the MFC.Showed he will be there for a very long time. Will make a top class midfielder one day.

I'm not sure we were watching the same player. Granted it was his first game, but this guy will not be playing for the Demons next week! His defensive game is in need of a lot of work. Thats not to say he wont be a great player. But honestly, his defensive work was terrible. Beaten more often than not whenever the ball came near him.

I'll support the massive majority who,by-the-way,I doubt would also list "Brad Miller" as a favourite player !

Stick the boot in? Settle down princess.

This is AFL senior football. I note that it was his first game, and i dont expect him to go out there and tear a game apart. I never said that he didnt offer anything to the team today. But it might be a great idea if you look at the game again - so many times today his lack of defensive skill cost us dearly. Im all for the development of our players, but we play to win.

To be fair, i didn't take much notice of his opponents on the day. Who was he playing on that was beating him/us so badly?

Princess? seriously? that's the best you could come up with? Lame.

I will bet you my sparkly princess crown that Tappy plays next week, and for many weeks to come, baring injuries.

His defensive game was good, but he did lose some one on one contests. So did Rivers and McDonald, and they are 100 game veterans. For every contest he lost, he put his body on the line and won another. It was a very very good debut and there is nothing you can take away from him.

Good for Luke if he plays next week and for many weeks after - great for his development. I hope he becomes a great player for the club. But if he continues to play the to the same level defensively as he did today it'll be interesting to see how long your man crush lasts.

Everything aside, im not writing him off like many of you are making it seem.

Incredible debut! Congratulations to Luke for his performance & perserverance through an injury plagued 2010.

I was furious after the 2009 draft when Luke was described by a fellow Demonlander as a "stable pony" for Trengove. Tapscott is a stallion in his own right. Fantastic kick, hard as nails, composed & skilful. Forget the bump on Shaw, how courageous was that overhead mark going back against the flight in ?Q4? A long career in the red-&-blue beckons.

Can anyone recall a better debut than that from an MFC player? I can't ...

To nitpick on a kid who's just racked up club b and f votes and probably a rising star nom in his first game, is ridiculous.

that long pass in the back line, that was stolen was not his fault!!!

It was bloody Maric's fault! He should have gone at the ball. Critical mistake (that kick btw was left foot, pretty confident thing to do given where he was kicking from)

Yep, pay that. Gysberts first two games were better than anyone i can recall in my whole time watching footy.

Ricky Petterd's first game back in 07 against Sydney was a great one too. Remember him running back into the hole and marking with Barry Hall closing down on him?

Yeh I was thinking about that game today. He played HFF, wing and HBF. Great game

I agree, from the stats a great effort. For a first game, it was good too.

BUT as i've stated, he cost us so many times in defence.

He has every chance of becoming a great footballer for the club, this i do not doubt.

If we dropped every player who 'cost us so many times in defence' after today's game then we'd be struggling to field a defence next week.

The positives of his debut far outweigh the negatives. Get his own ball on the ground and in the air. Beautiful kick short or long - Addam Maric should really have move to that swithc kick and protected the ball with his body. Aggressive. A player we have to get games into.

Couldn't have seen it playing out any better for Luke's debut, great game. That first kick-in playing on, selling the candy then roosting it half way up the ground was awesome to say the least. One of the best first posessions in AFL footy I've ever seen.

Can't wait to see what he has to offer next week.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
