Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Maybe he likes to perform to the extent of his ability, rather than hold his best back because it might benefit the club that wants him?

Hmmm, why does this sound familiar?

And both scenarios end in us getting screwed. It's the Melbourne way lol

Wtf

Try again sweet dee. Your having a go at the kid for performing to the best of his ability and trying to impress not only melbourne but everyone around him. Good on him for not holding back we have a beauty on our hands. A kid that is absolutely driven to get the best out of himself and prove he has what it takes to play at AFL level.

Regardless what pick it is he will be a fine player for the MFC.

Poor form as usual by you.

The kid is very driven, very professional, want to push himself to succeed, and he wants to come here... presumably until we start telling him to throw in poor performances so we can take him lower.

What freakin message does that send?

"Oh yeah, those tanking years were horrible! But they're well behind us now! We'll never do that again, that's for sure! Oh... But do you mind putting in some lacklustre efforts just so we can take you earlier? Go on mate..."

What a driven little f'er he will be if we pass on him because of 5 whole spots in the draft...

And more condolences to the family of the kid we end up taking over him, he will have about a month to get going.

This is probably why we were thinking about doing the trade with the Bulldogs for 6 and 21 for 2.

We can pick up Stretch and the kid we won't get because Stretch went early...

I agree in the main, but then whos he trying to impress ??

A fox-like trainer of horses etc wont allow the beast to gallop full speed at trials etc . it keeps something back. You play your best shots ONLY when you need to. You catch others off guard that way. Only an idiot telegraphs their hand before time.

I admire the kids spirit, I deplore his counsel. !!

Who said anything about passing on him, it was just observed that he doesn't have to go hell for leather at the combine.

Some of you need to calm down, especially you Dazzle

Sweet Dee, your cantankerous posting and retorting makes me think you are anything but. I also question your suggested "femininity".

But let the record stand, i bloody like ya.

I'm willing to take him with our second round pick but why are we showing off how good he is and tempting clubs into making us do that. We're taking him.. Who is he trying to impress with his combine heroics?

Maybe because he has a lot of self pride and a work ethic, which alone would make him a great pick up.

Only the Saints have to think he is worth pick 21 for us not to get him as a 3rd rounder.

True, but if we deal pick 2 or 3 to bulldogs, forcing saints to keep pick 1, then they will bid 21 just to spite us!

I wouldn't put it past them especially the way Richardson?/Finnis? were carrying on about us potentially getting pick 3.

Why doesn't he have to sweet dee?

Melbourne wouldn't know what his agility and beep test times were. Of course they need to find out if the going gets tough he can find an extra gear to go up a level especially when the pressure and heat of the game is up for grabs.

Except the father/son bidding is finished before the trading starts, so you would think the Saints don't want to upset us.

I would take Stretch in the top 10.

Stretch has shown class, consistency, dedication, work ethic and has all the athletic qualities to make a fine player.

Comes from a football family, oozzes class and has put that on display against men.
As much as I love Ahern and Laverde, I'd take Stretch before them in a heart beat.

Both those players are inconsistent, they could be the next coming of Nat Fyfe - or be the next Sam Blease.

The only way opposition sides don't bid on Stretch is if they feel sorry for us - which I think is unlikely, given that we'll be pushing them back a spot already with pick 3.

Yes but the only one who can bid against us in the first round are the Sainters and similarly second round [if we don't upset them before the FS nominations close]. I am hopeful that Stretch can drift back to the Third Round. In fact, I hope the Doggies bid on Moore and force Collingwood to use their First Round pick [though I don't want to upset Collingwood prior to our three-way trade to get HL, involving Mitch and the Cats]?

Club recruiters have been putting together dossiers on these kids all year. It might make a small difference, but I don't see wright winning time trials, beep tests etc and everyone has him top 3.

It's part of the puzzle, not the whole picture.

I love that he is a competitor, a performer and attentively leader.

Welcome B. Stretch, S.O.S

actually any club can bid against us in the first round

if they did (excl aints) then it forces our 2nd round pick

Yes I am aware of that but I still think that it is doubtful that they would want to squander their first round pick when they can just as easily bid for Moore [another FS nomination who's father won a Brownlow playing for the Dees and was even more of a champion].

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
