Cameron Bruce (ouch)

GRUN DEE

Recommended Posts

Yeah. How dare he try to get the most out of his career in money and playing time. What a bastard...

Fair go, these forums really are full of flogs.

I reckon it's a little bit sad, but I wouldn't say "ouch" exactly. They can have him. He's not going to do ALL that much over the next two years (will be decent for them), and our time is directly after that anyway. Would have been nice to see him stay a one-club player, but I imagine if it really was that important to him, he'd still be a dee. So if he's happy, I'm happy. Good on him. I wish him well, but only because I'm not terrified that he'll kick 6 goals on us.

Dappa Dan & Hard Track, finally 2 people who dont just come on here and rubbish players. Yeah people are shitty the way things happened but in all seriousness, get over it. We have a great club going forward. Lets concentrate on that instead of making yourselves feel better by putting others down. Im all for opinions, god knows some of mine are well and truly off the mark. But keep it that, opinions.

In all seriousness, the nasty stuff has been said by a minority of posters and not a majority.

Frankly, I didn't appreciate Cameron allowing this 'the MFC pushed me out in a contemptible fashion' meme to prosper.

Other than that, he can do what he likes, I'm arrogant enough as a Dees supporter to know he has made one helluva bone-headed decision...

I don't think anyone is begrudging the many years of service Cam provided for the MFC, I think the problem arose when he left us at the 11th hour and hence no opportunity for any kind of reimbursement. In essence, he walked out on us, and thus shown that his only motivations are self serving.

He done a little sh*t fart on his legacy and left his dirty undies behind the vanity sink. He left on a presumption, why should we show loyalty when none was shown to us?

He did play for us for over a decade, I think that is showing loyalty.

To be honest, I understand why he wanted to leave. It's quite obvious that he asked the club if he would receive a new contract if he played well in 2011, and when they couldn't assure him of that, he decided to walk. I'm also of the opinion that he left so late because he wanted to stay at the MFC, and as such, he wanted to give them every opportunity to accept his terms.

They didn't, and now he has left - that's it.

It remains to be seen how big of an impact his absence will have next year, but he was a very good player for us over a number of years (including parts of last year), so to see many of the posters in this thread having a go at him is a touch disappointing.

So three years ago the Hawks defied conventional wisdom and drafted Stuart Dew who vindicated them by playing an absolute blinder on grand final day the following year. Ever since, I think they've been itching to repeat the dose in the hope that lightning strikes twice. Well, it could happen again but the players and the circumstances are very different now. Dew had been out for a season and worked his butt off for a second chance. He was 28 and it worked. Perhaps they might have been better served by taking Robert Campbell rather than Bruce?

Interesting comparison. The striking difference between Dew and Bruce is that Dew had one outstanding attribute, his powerful kicking, whereas Bruce's great attribute is his application. In other words, one had a weapon the other has an attitude.

When you think about it, there's no comparison at all really.

Yes, he had 11 well-paid seasons at the Demons.

To be honest, I understand why he wanted to leave. He left it so late because Hawthorn instructed him to, according to reports. And him giving us time to accept his terms? He had a spot on the VL all to himself in 2011 and 2012. No-one else was eligible. If he stayed fit, he would have another year after next season.

They didn't, and now he has left - that's it.

Or he didn't, and that's it.

It remains to be seen how big of an impact his absence will have next year, but he was a very good player for us over a number of years (including parts of last year), so to see many of the posters in this thread having a go at him is a touch disappointing.

Fans don't like it when players leave.

It's the game. Ablett is going to cop it, and so is Cameron.

The guy can leave and that is fine but I have been more disturbed by MFC supporters blaming the club for a vice captain not accepting a very good contract than by any nasty comments about Cameron Bruce.

Dew also had an appetite for the physical contest and a decent amount of bulk to throw around...

I think it is more appropriate to start this story off with

Ok so it all began with a guy called Ricky Nixon............

Considering my post that these posts stemmed from you might want to start with Norm Smith's sacking. I'm in to detail.

I'm totally ambivalent about Bruce's departure. He may have been in our best 22 for much of next season, but I don't think his premature departure will affect our overall progress one iota.

On the other hand, I was initially a bit peeved by the method and timing of his separation, but I'm well and truely over that now. Good luck to him if that's the way he wanted to play the game.

If anyone ends up having deep regrets about him leaving, I think it will more than likely be Cam himself.

Are you proud of that?

All these posts and all anyone can get from all of them is

Posters are [censored] off Bruce has left!

Only the club and Bruce know the real reasons.

Neither has bagged each other about the decision.

Obviously the club has its policy.

Bruce felt he had better opportunities elswhere.

The club held its stance and so it should!

Bruce felt he could be better off elswhere.

Good luck to both.

Bruce is no certainty for glory!

The melbourne football club is not certain of its policy.

Only time will tell.

However

The number of posts bagging Bruce REALLY tell how upset the posters are that an agreement could not be found!

SAD!!!!

REALLY!!!

Firstly, Nixon bagged us through the nonsense he gave Ralph and Bruce let it ferment. We disrespected him by only giving him $300k fir 2011?!

And that is where my ire is raised not this strange attempt by you to own our discontent of him leaving as if we were losing a lover...

He's 31, our talent is ten years younger...

I posted last year he isn't flag core...

I'm with Nasher, I'm apathetic when I see that picture.

Reason for edit - iPhone wording thing, apathetic will do.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
