Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We’re going to win the Flag next year - what do you do when we do?

Ironically enough, NYE 1999 was probably the crappiest new year I have ever experienced on the turps.

Mostly because the City of Ballarat put on a supposed 55,000 dollar fireworks display and it was an absolute fizzer.

This would have been more impressive as a fireworks display.

I won't bag @Ron Burgundy as I find him to be a pretty good poster but I do worry about attitudes that it will just 'happen' for us.

1994, 1998, 2006 are too fresh in my mind. We were supposed to be the next big thing then but we put the cart in front of the horse, discounted our opposition and ended up pooing the bed.

Cliche alert.

Colin you mentioned Ballarat and NYE in the same sentence.

Here we have your major problem!!

I was 19 at the time SWYL and devoid of cash. Lack of social experience also lead me to believe that 21 Arms nightclub was also on par with Studio 54 in the 70's as a venue par excellence.

I can see where you made the wrong assumptions innocently.

I'm detached from the footy world in my corner of the world so i will just close the media file, message my parents saying 'hooray we finally fudging won' and then walk around with a smile on my face for the rest of the day, stuffing as much media and articles into my brain before opening the draft forum the following day to read and comment on who we need to go back to back ?

Pretty good times and at the same time pretty bad times were the 60's. Good to survive it and live in it, but bad that a lot of good friends didn't......

I’m usually bullish but think a cats 2006 year is possible. Young list, lots of surgeries post season end 2018, Etc Etc.. willl get a better draw in 2020  and reckon that’s when we strike. Hope I’m wrong though but hard to see past tigers and pies in 2019.

Currently sick and unable to sleep, this made my morning.

Ideally, go to the game with family. Stay, watch presentation. Stay for afterparty. Then go to players celebration, drinking. When they finally tell me players have to sleep, get someone to pick us up and take us to hotel to get over hangover while we wait for next day celebrations at the club.

Yeah and hooking up with a player would be ideal, but I’m not going to get too unrealistic here...

A friend chatted to Paul Roos at the airport , the great  man reckoned we dont need to add young talent perhaps a few more experienced players and will win one in 4-5 years ,

Patience required.

Big decision to make here. I have a work conference next September in Italy that I have to attend.

If I have a holiday before the conference I will be back for the GF but will miss all of the other finals..

If I have my holiday after the conference I will miss the GF but most possibly be around for the first two rounds of finals.

Its too far to travel for just the conference.

Any advice? What would you do?

Would be interesting to hear him expand on what type of experienced players were required.

In the next couple of years we'll lose Jones, Lewis, perhaps Hibberd and Jetta (both 28). Running defenders?

Call in sick.

We used to take our family holidays in the September school holidays. No holidays anymore. They’ll get over it eventually.

Miss the GF - hopefully watch the win on TV.

Made same call on smaller scale this year - forgoing Week 1 for wedding in Canberra. Pretty sure we’d win when I knew I’d be away.

Rather watch a win on TV than witness a loss

You would never forgive yourself if you gave up the opportunity to be at the G to watch us win a flag.

He said Hogan would be a huge loss but bringing May in is a good get  , so as long as we replace quality with quality .

Lewis is the next one Id be focused on a replacement for - incredibley valuable imo .

Jetts and Hibbo are here for 4-5 years .

No they won't. They are both soon to turn 29. They have 2, maybe 3 years left.

That is how I feel. When Collingwood and St Kilda played for GF and there was a draw, my husband was at the first GF but we flew out that night for an overseas trip so he missed the second week and subsequent win. He still tells me it was one of his biggest regrets.

I see that you really do have all the worries of the world Jane.

This must be a very stressful decision!

My experience of life tells me that you can't have your cake and eat it.

Most people would kill to have these choices.

So your big decision does sound a trifle boastful and indulgent.

Sorry Jane, I can't feel sorry for you.

It seems you may be a public servant, academic or bureaucrat that finds making a decision difficult.

For me its a no brainer.

Work conference, boring. Holiday, replaceable, any time. Winning finals and the GF is a lifetime experience and memory. If you want to cash in on a free airfare for an Italian holiday, I feel even less sorry for you.

If you live in many parts of Melbourne, and, in country Victoria, people don't have holidays or if they do, they save to go to the Murray or down to Rosebud.

Now here's an idea, just go with your gut!

Otherwise, you may end up blaming everyone else for the wrong decision.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
